Strengthening Stakeholder Support, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur Holds 2026 Drilling Plan Socialization

Samarinda – PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) held a socialization session on its 2026 development well drilling plan, scheduled to be implemented from January to May 2026. The socialization took place in Samarinda on December 9, 2025. It involved various stakeholders from central and regional government institutions, including the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities/Satuan Kerja Khusus Pelaksana Kegiatan Usaha Hulu Minyak dan Gas Bumi (SKK Migas), the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources/Kementerian Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral (ESDM) through its regional office, as well as other related parties in East Kalimantan.

Head of Communication, Relations & CID PHKT, Elis Fauziyah, explained that the socialization activity serves as a strategic step in building a shared understanding among stakeholders regarding upstream oil and gas operational plans. “Through this socialization, we hope to gain the support of all stakeholders for the upstream oil and gas investment project in the form of drilling four development wells in 2026. This project represents PHKT’s commitment to maintaining sustainable oil and gas production in order to support national energy availability and energy security in line with the Government’s Asta Cita on energy self-sufficiency,” she explained.

According to her, the Company remains committed to continuing investment in exploitation activities by drilling development wells to add reserves, increase recovery, maintain production levels, and slow the natural decline of mature oil and gas fields in the Kalimantan region.

Elis also expressed appreciation for the support of all stakeholders involved in the socialization. “At PHKT, we believe that the success of oil and gas operations is determined not only by technology and planning, but also by the strength of collaboration. Support from the government, regulators, and the community is the energy that ensures each operational stage runs safely, in compliance, and delivers positive impacts for all stakeholders,” she added.

In her remarks, SKK Migas representative Febriana Melisa stated that the drilling plan is part of the government’s efforts to strengthen national energy security. The development of these four wells is an important component in supporting the national oil and gas lifting target. We remain open to input from all stakeholders so that the benefits of this activity can provide positive impacts for the community and the region,” she said.

Meanwhile, a representative of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of East Kalimantan Province, Puji Harjanto, emphasized that coordination is key to the smooth implementation of oil and gas programs in the field. A similar view was expressed by the Head of the Marine Spatial Management Division of the East Kalimantan Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Office/Dinas Kelautan dan Perikanan Kalimantan Timur (DKP Kaltim), M. Ali Aripe, who underscored the importance of data transparency, technical coordination, and compliance with marine spatial zoning.

In carrying out the drilling activities, PHKT consistently prioritizes safety aspects and applies best practices in upstream oil and gas operations that are effective, efficient, and environmentally friendly. This was conveyed during PHKT Senior Drilling Engineer Haryo Palgunadi's presentation. He explained that preparations have been carried out in a measured manner, considering various aspects, including technical requirements, occupational safety, and risk management, in accordance with field challenges and characteristics. “This momentum is important so that all parties share the same understanding of the drilling activity plan, its risks, and the mitigation measures,” he stated.

Through coordination and collaboration with all stakeholders, PHKT hopes that the implementation of the 2026 drilling plan will run smoothly and successfully, delivering positive contributions. “Upstream oil and gas investments, such as this development well drilling, are expected to generate multiple benefits for the government and communities in the operating areas, stimulate economic activity, create job opportunities, and support inclusive and sustainable regional economic development, particularly in East Kalimantan,” she concluded.
