Improving Employee Health, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur Wellness Program Records a Collective Weight Loss of up to 1.5 Ton

Balikpapan – PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT), through its SINERGIA 2025–2026 Wellness Program, successfully recorded a collective weight loss of 1,532 kilograms, accompanied by improvements in various employee health indicators. The achievement was announced during the Closing Ceremony of the SINERGIA 2025–2026 Wellness Program, which was held in conjunction with a Fun Run at Pasir Ridge Complex, Balikpapan, on Friday (June 5, 2026). The event marked the culmination of an employee health improvement program that had been conducted for approximately 20 weeks or five months and was attended by 2,116 employees grouped into 529 teams.

The Wellness Program is an annual initiative that has been consistently implemented since 2019 as part of the Company’s efforts to foster a culture of healthy lifestyles and improve employee health. Each year, the program adopts a different theme in accordance with employee health needs and challenges. For the 2025–2026 period, the program carries the theme SINERGIA (Healthy, Innovative, Energetic, Active, and Happy), reflecting the spirit of collaboration in building a healthy, productive, and happy workforce. The SINERGIA Wellness Challenge is one of the programs under ONE KOLAB – KOLABORAFIT, which forms part of the 2026 Living Core Value (LCV)/Project Charter Budaya (PCB) program.

Zona 10 General Manager, Darmapala, reaffirmed the Company’s commitment to continuously supporting employee health improvement as a strategic measure to enhance productivity and corporate performance. “Through the SINERGIA Wellness Program, the Company promotes the prevention and control of health risks by emphasizing six key pillars, namely balanced nutrition, adequate rest, stress management, healthy social relationships, control of addictive substance use, and regular exercise,” he stated.

According to him, modern lifestyle changes characterized by reduced physical activity, sedentary work patterns such as prolonged sitting in front of a computer, and a tendency toward passive lifestyles present health challenges that require attention. “These conditions have the potential to increase the risk of metabolic disorders, weight gain, degenerative diseases, as well as occupational illnesses and injuries, which may ultimately affect productivity, health, and workplace safety,” he explained.

Throughout the program, participants also received support through periodic health assessments, educational classes, nutrition consultations, Employee Assistance Program (EAP) services, and various healthy lifestyle campaigns. The program, which ran from December 11, 2025, to April 29, 2026, received strong employee enthusiasm. The number of participants this year reflects a continuing upward trend in participation, while also demonstrating growing employee awareness of the importance of maintaining good health.

The participants' commitment and consistency led to encouraging health achievements. In addition to the collective weight loss of 1,532 kilograms, participants also successfully reduced their Body Mass Index (BMI) by 551 points, decreased waist circumference by 4,043 centimeters, and lowered visceral fat levels by 673 points. These achievements demonstrate that the Company’s investment in employee health delivers tangible benefits for quality of life while supporting workplace productivity. Improvements in employee health status were also reflected in the results of the annual Medical Check-Up (MCU).

As the culmination of the program series, PHKT organized a Fun Run attended by Wellness Program participants and employees from various functions across Zona 10. The activity symbolized SINERGIA's success in encouraging more employees to stay physically active and consistently adopt healthy lifestyle practices. Through the SINERGIA 2025–2026 Wellness Program, PHKT once again reaffirmed its commitment to mainstreaming employee health as part of the Company’s operational excellence. “This program not only encourages the creation of a healthy, active, and productive workforce, but also strengthens a collaborative work culture that is oriented toward sustainable performance,” he concluded.
