Two Sejadi Development Wells Flow Nearly 1,900 BOPD, PHKT Increases National Oil Supply

Two Sejadi Development Wells Flow Nearly 1,900 BOPD, PHKT Increases National Oil Supply

Balikpapan, June 16, 2026 – PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) has successfully recorded an additional production of nearly 1,900 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) from two development wells in the Sejadi Field located offshore East Kalimantan. The additional production, recorded on June 12, 2026, provides additional oil supply to support energy availability and strengthen national energy security.

The two completed development wells are Sejadi Well SJ-6 and Sejadi Well SJ-4RD1. Sejadi Well SJ-6 is a New Drill Well with an S-type Directional drilling trajectory and a total depth of 11,266 ftMD. Meanwhile, Sejadi Well SJ-4RD1 is a Re-Drill Well with an S-type Directional drilling trajectory and a total depth of 9,112 ftMD.

Amid various technical challenges in the Sejadi Field, PHKT completed the drilling of both wells ahead of schedule and at a lower cost than the approved budget.

Based on well-testing results, Sejadi Well SJ-6 recorded a net oil production of 942 BOPD. Meanwhile, Sejadi Well SJ-4RD1 recorded net oil production of 923 BOPD and gas production of 0.853 MMSCFD. In total, the two wells contributed an additional oil production of 1,865 BOPD.

This achievement is part of PHKT’s strategic efforts to optimize the potential of the Sejadi Field, which has relatively complex subsurface characteristics, through comprehensive studies utilizing infill and step-out development concepts. Drilling activities on the Sejadi platform were also supported by facility enhancements, including a deck extension program, to optimize field development further.

The expansion of the platform area through the deck extension program provides more adequate space for facility development and operational activities, thereby supporting sustainable production enhancement efforts in the Sejadi Field. This achievement demonstrates that further development of existing fields still holds the potential to create added value through increased production while strengthening contributions to national energy security.

General Manager of Zona 10, Darmapala, stated that this achievement serves as evidence of successful asset management and sustainable field development in maintaining the company’s production performance.

“This achievement further strengthens our confidence that production growth opportunities remain available through proper asset management and sustainable field development. The success at Sejadi is a tangible result of the spirit of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence that we continue to foster in delivering the best performance for the nation and the country,” said Darmapala.

According to him, the successful development of the Sejadi Field demonstrates that mature oil and gas fields still have the potential for further development through measured and selective strategies.

Behind the additional production of nearly 1,900 BOPD from the Sejadi Field lies strong cross-functional collaboration that has been key to the success of this field development. This collaboration involved the Subsurface team in identifying field potential, the Drilling & Well Intervention team in executing drilling and well completion programs through to the put-on-production stage, the Project team in ensuring facility readiness, and the Kalimantan Field team in maintaining operational reliability.

This success was also made possible by the support of the Government, SKK Migas, regional governments, and related stakeholders.

Head of SKK Migas Representative Office for Kalimantan and Sulawesi, Hariyanto Syafrie, expressed appreciation for PHKT’s success in realizing additional production from the Sejadi Field, which contributes positively to increasing national oil and gas production.

“The successful drilling and operation of Sejadi Wells SJ-6 and SJ-4RD1 demonstrate that production enhancement potential can still be realized through the application of appropriate technology, comprehensive subsurface understanding, and excellent operational execution. This additional production contributes positively to achieving the national oil production target while strengthening Indonesia’s energy security,” said Hariyanto.

SKK Migas will continue to encourage the acceleration of oil and gas field development through strong synergy among the Government, regional governments, Cooperation Contract Contractors (KKKS), and all stakeholders. The success of the Sejadi Field is expected to serve as an example for the development of other oil and gas fields, particularly in optimizing the potential of existing fields to provide greater benefits for the country.

This achievement reaffirms PHKT’s commitment to continuously delivering excellent operational performance, optimizing upstream oil and gas assets, and making tangible contributions to increasing national oil and gas production and supporting Indonesia’s development.
