Penajam North Paser – PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) further strengthened its synergy with the media through a media gathering titled Bincang Asik Soal Migas Ala PHI (BASO IGA) Ramadan Special Edition, held at Lawe-Lawe Station, Penajam North Paser Regency/Kabupaten Penajam Paser Utara (PPU), on Friday (13/3/2026). The event, attended by 33 journalists from various local media outlets in PPU, served as a dialogue platform between the upstream oil and gas company and the media, while also fostering ties during the holy month of Ramadan.
PHKT Lawe-Lawe Station Production Superintendent, Syamsul Arifin, stated that PHI’s BASO IGA serves as an important communication platform between the company and local stakeholders. According to him, the event’s theme, “Building Energy, Building Trust,” reflects that the success of the oil and gas industry is measured not only by energy production achievements, but also by the company’s ability to build and maintain public trust. “Trust does not emerge instantly. It is built through consistent communication, transparency of information, and responsibility in every operational activity carried out,” said Syamsul.
He added that Lawe-Lawe Station plays an important role in supporting smooth production and energy distribution operations within PHKT’s operating area. Therefore, effective communication with the media is an important part of building understanding among the company, government, business partners, and the community.
On the same occasion, SKK Migas Representative for Kalimantan and Sulawesi, Mutiara Dinanti, expressed appreciation for PHKT’s initiative in providing a media dialogue platform through this PHI BASO IGA activity. According to her, synergy between the upstream oil and gas industry and the media is important for building public understanding of the energy sector’s contribution to national development. She also hoped that open communication between the upstream oil and gas industry and the press would continue so that information regarding oil and gas operational activities could be accurately conveyed to the public.
During the event, journalists also participated in a sharing session discussing various topics related to the upstream oil and gas industry, including an introduction to the ONE Pertamina cultural program, which promotes service standards, occupational safety, and collaboration within the company.
One session that drew significant attention from participants was an educational visit to the Lawe-Lawe Station Laboratory, where journalists had the opportunity to directly observe oil and gas analysis processes that support production operations. During this session, the laboratory team explained various testing parameters for production fluids, including gas composition analysis, moisture content, dew point, and hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) content. In addition, crude oil testing included analyses such as API Gravity, viscosity, sulfur content, and salt content to ensure production fluid quality and operational facility readiness.
Through this session, journalists gained a more comprehensive understanding of the laboratory’s role in maintaining production quality while ensuring safety standards and operational compliance at Lawe-Lawe Station.
On the same occasion, PHKT Zona 10 Head of Communication, Relations & CID, Elis Fauziyah, explained that PHI’s BASO IGA activity was also combined with a Media Institutional Roadshow and the distribution of basic necessities to surrounding communities. The social activity is a routine agenda carried out every Ramadan by SKK Migas together with all PSC contractors in the Kalimantan and Sulawesi regions. “This program is a tangible expression of the upstream oil and gas industry’s concern for communities living around PHKT’s operating area,” said Elis.
Appreciation for the event was also conveyed by the Chair of the Indonesian Journalists Association/Persatuan Wartawan Indonesia (PWI) of Penajam North Paser Regency, Erwin, who noted that synergy between PHKT and local media has been well established. He cited PHKT’s support for improving journalists’ competence, including through the implementation of the Journalist Competency Test/Uji Kompetensi Wartawan (UKW) in Samarinda at the end of last year. “We highly appreciate the good relationship that has been maintained. PHKT’s support for the UKW implementation in Samarinda has helped improve the capacity of local journalists,” he said.
Through this Ramadan Special Edition of PHI BASO IGA, PHKT hopes that synergy between the company and the media will continue to be maintained so that it can provide constructive information to the public, while also strengthening public understanding of the role of the upstream oil and gas industry in supporting national energy security. “Hopefully, this moment of togetherness will further strengthen collaboration in providing energy for the nation while building public trust,” Syamsul concluded.
