Safeguarding National Production Sustainability, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Strengthens Synergy in Securing Oil and Gas Assets as State-Owned Property

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) held a meeting and audience with the Mayor of Samarinda and representatives of the Samarinda City Government regarding the governance of upstream oil and gas land assets as State-Owned Property/Barang Milik Negara (BMN). The event, which took place on June 5, 2026, marked a strategic step in building collaboration and synergy to support the sustainability of upstream oil and gas operations, which are essential for national energy availability and security.

During the meeting, the Company also expressed its appreciation to the Head of the East Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office, the Head of the Samarinda Land Office (KANTAH) and their respective teams, as well as the Head of the East Kalimantan Regional Land Office (KANWIL) and their respective teams, who played an important role in the synergy for securing State-Owned Property (BMN) assets in the form of land located within the Under Muara Mahakam (UMM) oil and gas area managed by PT Pertamina EP (PEP) in East Kalimantan. This synergy resulted in a significant achievement in safeguarding BMN land assets valued at approximately IDR 21.5 billion and investments in wells and production facilities valued at approximately IDR 1.25 trillion, while also generating a constructive impact by preventing the loss of potential production valued at IDR 480 billion per year.

PHI Senior Manager Legal Counsel, Ardhi Apriyanto, stated that the achievement demonstrates the importance of legal certainty and inter-agency synergy in safeguarding upstream oil and gas assets, thereby ensuring the continuity of national oil and gas operations and production. “This achievement shows that legal certainty and strong inter-agency collaboration are important factors in supporting the sustainability of oil and gas production and national energy security,” said Ardhi.

Head of the Samarinda Land Office, Ceto Subagyo, assessed that the resolution of BMN asset security issues was successfully carried out through collaboration among various parties. “The safeguarding of state assets was successfully implemented through accountable asset management and strong inter-agency collaboration, including the Samarinda Land Office, the Regional Office of ATR/BPN, the Provincial Government, the City Government, and the High Prosecutor’s Office in East Kalimantan,” said Ceto. According to him, safeguarding state assets is not only about protecting land but also about building civilization and sustainable urban development.

Samarinda Mayor Andi Harun stated that regional development cannot be separated from land-related issues. He emphasized the importance of ongoing coordination between PHI and relevant stakeholders to resolve various land issues comprehensively. “A comprehensive resolution of land issues is necessary to prevent potential agrarian disputes in the future, particularly in Samarinda City,” he added.

On the same occasion, the Head of the East Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office, Supardi, conveyed that the resolution of various land issues was carried out based on appropriate legal considerations and in accordance with the principles of good governance. “The well-established cooperation is expected to continue to be enhanced in a manner that accommodates the interests of all parties,” said Supardi.

Meanwhile, PHI President Director Sunaryanto, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who have supported asset-safeguarding efforts, thereby directly contributing to the sustainability of the Company’s oil and gas operations and production. “This success would not have been possible without the assistance, facilitation, and support of all related parties in securing oil and gas assets as State-Owned Property (BMN), while upholding legal certainty and common interests through deliberation and consensus,” he added.

According to Anto, the familiar nickname of Sunaryanto, the Company believes that close collaboration among the government, SKK Migas, law enforcement agencies, land authorities, and other stakeholders plays an important role in maintaining the sustainability of upstream oil and gas investments and operations. “We hope that the synergy that has been established can continue to be strengthened to support the sustainability of upstream oil and gas operations, reinforce national energy security, and provide benefits for regional development and communities,” he concluded.
