Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) officially announced the recipients of full scholarship to pursue undergraduate studies through the 2025 Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship (BSBK) program on October 25, 2025. In its second year of implementation, BSBK gave out scholarships to 15 outstanding students from Kalimantan, originating from areas surrounding the operational regions of PHI’s subsidiaries and affiliates in East, North, and South Kalimantan.
The names of BSBK 2025 recipients can be seen on the Pertamina Foundation’s official website, as the implementing partner of the BSBK program. The scholarship recipients will pursue higher education at some of the top universities in Kalimantan that are partners of the BSBK program. The scholarship inauguration ceremony is scheduled for November 2025. The BSBK program is fully supported by PHI’s subsidiary companies, such as PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), and PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT).
President Director of PHI, Sunaryanto, underscored the Company’s commitment to carry out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a manifestation of the implementation of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and Environment, Social, Governance (ESG). “As an energy company, we are not only focused on safe and sustainable operational activity, but also uphold social responsibilities to positively contribute to enhancing the capacity and self-reliance of communities around our operational areas,” stated Sunaryanto, also commonly known as Anto.
Anto explained that PHI always implements various Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to ensure the Company’s upstream oil and energy operations and business can drive economic growth and community self-reliance, as well as environmental preservation, in line with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). “In PHI, we believe that an empowered and independent community, along with a preserved environment, will support the sustainability of the Company’s oil and gas operations and productions for decades to come.”
The BSBK scholarship recipients were selected through a rigorous process carried out since July 2025. A total of 868 applicants from across Kalimantan took part in the initial stage, which included three phases: Administrative Selection, Academic Potential test, and Interview.
Manager Communication Relations & CID PHI, Dony Indrawan, explained that participant enthusiasm has increased for this second implementation of the BSBK program. “We believe that education is one of the main foundations for building independent and broad-minded communities, as well as a better future for the next generation,” Dony said. Through the BSBK program, PHI aims to provide opportunities and access for talented local youths, particularly those from underprivileged families, to pursue higher education.
The BSBK program is designed to provide opportunities for high school and vocational school graduates (SMA/SMK/MA or equivalent) from areas surrounding the Company’s operational regions. Through this program, PHI aims to enhance the capacity of local youth so they can take part in driving sustainable development across Kalimantan and contribute to Indonesia Emas 2045. “This scholarship reaffirms the Company’s commitment to support the improvement of human resource quality, particularly among local youth, through CSR programs in the field of education,” he added.
Through the BSBK Program, PHI collaborates with Pertamina Foundation (PF), which also manages various scholarship programs within the Pertamina Group. President Director of Pertamina Foundation, Agus Mashud S. Asngari, stated, “The Sobat Bumi Kalimantan Scholarship Program is part of the 12 scholarship programs managed by Pertamina Foundation. We see this initiative as one of the most effective ways to expand access to quality education to regions across Indonesia, including Kalimantan, which holds great potential in shaping the future generation of leaders,” said Agus.
He added that this scholarship not only provides financial assistance but also offers character development, leadership training, and mentoring throughout the study period. This approach is expected to help the scholarship recipients grow into individuals with integrity whi can make a real contribution to society.
The BSBK program also directly supports the Government of Indonesia’s Asta Cita vision, particularly in human resource development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely Goals 4 on Quality Education, 10 on Reduced Inequalities, and 13 on Climate Action.
The presence of the BSBK Program and other CSR initiatives in education serves as concrete evidence of the synergy between industry and education in developing excellent, competitive, and environmentally conscious human resources. This effort is expected to be a tangible contribution from the Company toward building a better future for the young generation and a progressive, sustainable Kalimantan.
