Jakarta - The editor of Energy and Mining Society (E2S) gave an award to Chalid Said Salim, President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), as The Best CEO of Upstream Oil and Gas Company in the event of 2021 E2S Award. The E2S Award was held online on Wednesday, 8 December 8 2021. This is the first time in the form of giving appreciation to the company's leaders and workers in the field of public relations who have shown their commitment in developing the Company's operations and business.
As The Best CEO of Upstream Oil and Gas Company, Chalid Said Salim is considered successful in maintaining and improving the performance of PHI in the pandemic condition that lasts for approximately 2 years by adapting, innovating, and aligning every element of the Company's business so that PHI continues to achieve high performance. This is indicated by the cumulative oil and gas production during YTD in October 2021 which exceeded the target, which was 103% or equivalent to 180 MBOEPD. The achievement of production above the target as well as improving conditions in the prices of world oil contributed significantly to the company's revenue. PHI managed to record revenue realization of 152% compared to the YTD target in October 2021.
Chalid Said Salim was very grateful and welcomed the award that has been achieved. "I along with all levels of management and PHI workers have made adjustments to the management of work and workers according to the standard business processes and health protocols for the prevention, control, and handling of COVID-19. This is done to ensure the safety of workers, processes, facilities, and the environment in all areas of the Company's operations. In addition, we also set several strategic initiatives by revitalizing existing fields, conducting the Mahakam Crown Jewels, Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) through partnerships, and collaboration to accelerate the results of the evaluation of exploration success (funnel exploration)".
“PHI also carried out various project prioritizations and technological innovations to maintain production and curb the natural production declining rate, to maintain asset economy, and to undertake optimizations and saving efforts in all aspects of the Company's business and operations. In order to maintain production and restrain this natural decline in production, PHI increased the number of drilling development wells and accelerated the drilling activities. In this case, the support from all levels of management and workers of PHI greatly affected the performance obtained. Until October 2021, PHI managed to drill 114 wells out of the 103 wells target or 111% of the target. PHI's optimizations and saving program in various aspects of operations and business until October 2021 have reached a value of $674 million," added Chalid Said Salim.
In his press release, Lili Hermawan, Chair of the Committee and the Jury of the 2021 E2S Award, said, "The COVID-19 pandemic has swept almost all economic activities. Many companies do not survive, but some companies can actually show their work performance well so that they are able to survive and even develop. One of these achievements is due to the cold hands of the Company's leaders and the full support of the employees in it”.
On the same occasion, Dony Indrawan, Manager of Communication Relations & CID PHI Regional 3 Kalimantan also received an award as The Best PR Manager for Upstream Oil and Gas Company. This appreciation also proves that PHI is able to survive the COVID-19 pandemic by continuing to provide information that is precise, accurate, current, consistent, effective and meets the demands to foster stakeholder trust and support for the Company's operations and business as well as in line with policies and strategies of PT Pertamina (Persero), considering the limitations in communicating directly (in person).
Dony Indrawan expressed his gratefulness and gratitude for the award received. “Together with the Communication Relations & CID (CRC) team at PHI Regional 3 Kalimantan, we implemented a strategy for disseminating company information with a multiplatform approach, namely by using several communication channels, both managed directly by the Company and by other parties such as the mass media. This approach is based on the fact that the needs of stakeholders and the channels that they choose are different in obtaining Company information”.
For external communication strategies, in 2021, PHI has succeeded in aligning and updating the PHI website (phi.pertamina.com) with a more attractive appearance, up-to-date content, user friendly, and provided in two languages, namely in Indonesian and English. reach a wider audience. The CRC function directly manages the Company's social media accounts on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Currently Instagram of Zona 8 (@pertaminahulumhakam) has reached more than 37 thousand followers, while Intagram of Zona 10 (@zona10.pertamina) which was launched last December 2020 currently has more than 3,500 followers.
“Regarding our internal communication strategy, we published the first edition of the Energia Kalimantan internal tabloid as one of the Company's internal communication media which is available in print and digital versions so that all PHI workers can access them wherever they are. Currently, the CRC function is also developing the PHI intranet portal which is a hub for all PHI workers in accessing Company information at the Jakarta head office and at Zonas in Kalimantan, which also functions as a medium for collaboration between functions and workers," explained Dony.
Dony also explained that in terms of building the Company's ability to disseminate information to a wider range, the CRC Function applies a media relations approach strategy that is able to support broad publications about the Company. “The CRC function proactively distributes news releases to the mass media, both print, online, and digitally at local and national levels in Kalimantan and nationally containing information about the company's performance, achievements, innovations and awards received by the company, as well as community development programs (Corporate Social Responsibility) implemented by the Company," he concluded.
PHI is optimistic that it will continue to overcome various challenges in achieving the expected growth in 2022. PHI encourages all internal resources to coordinate and integrate to create synergies, and continue to develop a culture of innovation, creating effective and efficient business processes that can generate added value for all stakeholders.
Regarding the evaluation process for the E2S Award, Lili Hermawan added, “In the process of selecting candidates for the E2S Award, the organizers conduct a survey which is distributed to the editors. After the names are collected, the 10 selected candidates are re-selected by considering several factors so that valid winners are determined”.
