PHKT Run Community Development Program of GERBANG INSAN MAPAN in Penajam Paser Utara

Penajam Paser Utara - PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) runs the CSR program GERBANG INSAN MAPAN (Fishery and Agriculture Integration Development Movement Towards Food Independence). This CSR program applies the ecosystem concept of food self-sufficiency through an integrated approach between fisheries and agriculture using the rainfed paddy mine system to increase agricultural and fishery production.

On the occasion of a working visit (22/09), the Special Working Unit for Oil and Gas (SKK Migas) representatives of Kalimantan and Sulawesi (Kalsul), accompanied by media personnel from Penajam Paser Utara region (PPU), carried out a physical check to the location of this CSR program in Sebakung Jaya Village, Babulu District and Hidayatullah Boarding School in Girimukti Village, Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency (PPU).

The GERBANG INSAN MAPAN program is an excellent CSR program started in 2020 with several technological innovations that are applied to support the food independence of the community. The programs, namely (1) Roaster Maggot in the form of a modified roaster machine with insulation and automation technology for energy efficiency. (2) Micro Bubble Technology in the form of a generator that supports the freshwater fish cultivation process to increase the oxygen level in the pond. (3) Mina Padi in the form of land optimization to increase income by cultivating fish and rice. (4) Fish Pellets, the production of pellets from using bran/rice kernels left over from the harvest mixed with maggot flour and corn flour.

One of the programs that can run in support of innovation no. 4 (Fish Pellets) is the BULATIH (Black Fly Cultivation) program, which utilizes organic waste as food for maggots. Maggot has a high protein content. That is good as livestock and fish feed. The use of maggot as material for making pellets. Drying maggots using an automatic roaster provided by PHKT and modified with an insulation system that reduces heat in the heating device.

The GERBANG INSAN MAPAN program is one of the alternative solutions for PPU Regency, a candidate for the state capital or IKN in facing economic, social, and environmental challenges. Therefore, in this program, PHKT collaborates with all stakeholders, such as the Environment Agency, SKK Oil and Gas Kalsul, and Beneficiaries that can create benefits and values ​​together (creating shared value).

During this visit, PHKT's CSR Officer Asih Soenarih explained that PHKT applies Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) in running the Company's upstream oil and gas operations, one of which is through community development programs in the Company's operating area.

"The BULATIH program has helped to relieve the community by saving up to 30 percent of the cost of livestock and fish protein feed. The hope is that this effort can improve the economy at the same time as an independent and sustainable solution for the community's domestic waste," explained Asih.

Sebakung Jaya Village Head Sajidin assessed that the BULATIH program had an extraordinary impact on improving the economy of the Sebakung Jaya Village community. "This program has increased the average income of 30 kg of maggots every week. Meanwhile, through Mina Padi technology, we have made maximum use of the land. On a 2-hectare land, in the middle is planted with rice, the right and left sides are used as fish ponds, while the paddy fields with horticulture," said Sajidin.

In 2020 and 2021, the BULATIH program received the PROPER Green award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). The successful Corporate Social Responsibility program is because of collaboration between companies, beneficiaries, supporting partners, and all other stakeholders.

Representing the management of SKK Migas Kalsul, Danang Agung said that this media visit can convey information about the various benefits of the upstream oil and gas industry to the stakeholders in the region. The stakeholders are expected to continue to support the smooth operation of the upstream oil and gas industry.
