Enhancing MSME Competitiveness, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Group Holds UMK Academy 2025 Training

Samarinda – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), through its subsidiaries and affiliates, held the Hybrid Pertamina UMK Academy 2025 Training Program in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, on Sunday, 23 November 2025. UMK Academy is part of the Company’s CSR program and serves as a strategic initiative to support the advancement of its fostered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) so they can grow, compete, and improve their income and well-being.

The training was attended by four MSMEs fostered by PHI Group in Zona 9, most of which are run by housewives and small business owners. These include the Coastal Women Fishery Group/Kelompok Wanita Tani Nelayan Pesisir Sejahtera (WTNPS), supported by PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS); Bukwiskula MSME, supported by PEP Sangasanga Field; Trigona Reborn – Rombong Etam MSME, supported by PEP Sangatta Field; and Barokah MSME, supported by PEP Tanjung Field.

The training covered market research and analysis, pricing strategy, cash flow management, and environmentally friendly business practices as part of continuous capacity-building to strengthen MSME capabilities. These materials equip MSMEs with the essential skills needed to grow. The participants were MSMEs considered ready to advance and apply the knowledge gained while serving as examples for other local entrepreneurs.

Head of Communication Relations & CID Zona 9, Dharma Saputra, stated that strengthening business capacity is a strategic step in MSME development. Through UMK Academy, the Company aims to help its fostered MSMEs grow and contribute to sustainable economic development. We hope the participants will not only progress independently but also inspire other MSMEs in their communities,” he said.

Dharma added that the Company runs innovative, impactful, and sustainable CSR initiatives as part of its commitment to applying Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across its operations and business. “CSR programs in the economic sector, such as MSME development, support government efforts to improve productivity, income, and community independence through entrepreneurship and strengthening local institutions,” he explained.

The trainers for UMK Academy came from business practitioner backgrounds. They included Tangkas Khairi from Donutmoo, who delivered the market research material; Windu Surya Dewantara from Kami Bantu Konsultan, who taught pricing strategy and cash-flow management; and Rizky Wahyu Ramadhani from Tugu Makmur Indopangan, who covered environmentally responsible business practices. The hybrid format allowed participants to receive practical, applicable content that could be directly implemented in their business operations.

The training received positive responses from participants. Syarifah, Chair of Bukwiskula MSME, said the program brought significant benefits to the development of their business. Most members of their group are housewives, including some single mothers. “What we learned makes us more confident to keep innovating and expanding our network,” she said. Similar feedback came from Triyono, Chair of Trigona Reborn – Rombong Etam MSME. “This training has been beneficial, especially for developing the MSME work we have been doing in Sangatta,” he said.

Appreciation also came from local stakeholders on separate occasions. Pansyah, Village Head of Jirak, one of PEP Tanjung Field’s operational areas, stated, “This activity brings new enthusiasm to the freshwater fish processing group under the Sekara Jirak Program and is expected to encourage future innovation among village MSMEs,” he said.

Meanwhile, Arpan, the Subdistrict Head of Muara Badak, expressed his support for the initiative. “This training is an important step in helping MSMEs grow and compete. We appreciate Zona 9’s commitment to supporting economic empowerment in our region,” he said.

Through the implementation of UMK Academy 2025, PHI Group continues to reinforce its commitment to strengthening the professional and sustainable ecosystem for the MSMEs it has fostered. This aligns with the Company’s CSR implementation and its goals for local economic development within its operational areas.
