Celebrating Two Decades of PT Pertamina EP, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Group Holds a Series of Social Activities Across Kalimantan

Balikpapan – In 2025, the PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Group under Subholding Upstream Zona 9 celebrates two decades of PT Pertamina EP (PEP) in producing energy, such as oil and natural gas, for Indonesia. PHI Zona 9, which included PEP Sangatta Field, PEP Sangasanga Field, and PEP Tanjung Field, held a series of social activities as a gesture of gratitude and a commitment to continue spreading positive energy to all stakeholders, especially communities around its operational areas in Kalimantan. The social initiatives took place across East and South Kalimantan from August 29 to September 4, 2025.

The activities included providing aid to children in need, organizing mass circumcision events, and donating funds. With the theme “Energy for Generations,” the Company reaffirmed its commitment to grow together with local communities and ensure sustainability for future generations.

PEP Sangatta Field held the “Pertamina EP Berbagi” event at the Al Munawwir Islamic Boarding School, South Sangatta, on August 29. A total of 41 educational aid packages were distributed to orphaned students from various Islamic boarding schools in East Kutai, including Hubbul Wathon, Muhammadiyah Boarding School (Istiqomah), Darus Sholah, Al Munawwir, and Daarus Ikhlas (Raudlatul Jannah).

The educational packages, which included school bags, books, and stationery, were handed over directly by Field Manager PEP Sangatta Field, Cahyo Nugroho, along with the management team and supported by the Amil Zakat Agency Dana Peduli Umat (LAZ DPU) Sangatta Region. “This activity was a reflection of PEP Sangatta Field’s concern in celebrating the 20th anniversary of PEP. Hopefully, it brought blessings and provided broad benefits, especially in the field of education,” said Cahyo Nugroho.

Cahyo also conveyed that the Company believed education was one of the key foundations for building an independent and well-informed society and ensuring a better future for the next generation. Meanwhile, the students expressed their gratitude and prayed for Pertamina’s continued smooth operations and blessings in spreading positive energy.

At another location, PEP Sangasanga Field supported a Mass Circumcision Social Action held simultaneously at three sites, Wisma Ria Pertamina EP Sangasanga, the Anggana Office Clinic, and the Samboja Office Building, on September 4, 2025. A total of 55 children from surrounding communities participated in the event. In addition to free circumcision services, participants also received souvenirs as tokens of appreciation.

Acting Senior Field Manager PEP Sangasanga Field, Ivan Oriza Sativa, stated that the Company always strived to be present among the community, especially for those in need. “Through this mass circumcision event, we wanted to share happiness while helping children fulfill one of the Islamic teachings,” said Ivan.

Abu, one of the parents of the participants, expressed his gratitude for the initiative. “Alhamdulillah, this mass circumcision event was very beneficial. The children were able to perform an important Islamic rite, and as parents, we were truly helped by this program,” he added.

The spirit of sharing was also extended to South Kalimantan, where PEP Tanjung Field donated IDR 20 million to 100 children from three child welfare institutions, LKSA Amal Shaleh, Kasih Ibu, and Mufakat, between August 29 and September 2, 2025.

The donation was handed over directly by PEP Tanjung Field Manager, Charlie P. Nainggolan, and his management team. “As an energy company, our mission did not stop at achieving production targets. We also ensured that PEP Tanjung Field’s presence continued to bring real benefits to the surrounding community,” said Charlie.

He added that the Company believed a harmonious relationship with local communities and the environment supported the sustainability of oil and gas production. “These social initiatives were an integral part of the Company’s efforts to strengthen national energy resilience while contributing to community development, particularly in education, health, and the welfare of future generations,” he concluded.
