Balikpapan – Monday (12/7), Pertamina’s Zone 9 of Sub Holding Upstream Regional Kalimantan held an online Communication Session themed COVID-19 Awareness with all officers in Zone 9 Head Office. The Communication Session was held in order to improve the awareness of Zone 9’s officers and their family about COVID-19 spread and mitigation.
From May 2021 until July, COVID-19 cases in Indonesia has spiked due to a new more contagious variant of the virus. It was recorded that by 11 July 2021, 2,527,203 Indonesians have been confirmed as positive case of COVID-19 (since the beginning of the pandemic). Of that number, 82.5% cases had recovered, 14.9% are active cases, and 2.6% cases had resulted in death. In fact, Balikpapan City is imposing emergency PPKM (Restrictions on Public Activities) policy and is considered a red zone territory.
The event was opened by Andri Haribowo himself, the General Manager of Zone 9. In his opening speech, Andri said that we have to be more compliant in implementing health protocol by observing the 5Ms habit, which includes wearing mask, washing hands, keeping distance, avoiding crowds, and restricting mobilization.
“Implementation of this protocol can be improved by wearing double masks and increasing the distance from the usual 1 meter to 1.5 meter, and so on. In addition, we should always remember to maintain our immune by watching our diet and practicing healthy lifestyle,” said Andri.
Following that, Budiman Sarwidi, Manager HSSE of Zone 9 expressed his gratitude and appreciation for all officers in Zone 9 who had been implementing the health protocol very well.
“In addition to maintaining and improving health protocol implementation, we should always be careful in our daily activities. Do not drop our guard. Recently, many new confirmed cases occurred because people were not careful when they were with family members and acquaintances. Be careful, even though you have been vaccinated,” explained Budiman.
On that occasion, dr. Agung Waluyo Slamet, the Assistant Manager of Health in Zone 9 also described the current situation of COVID-19 and explained about the spread of COVID-19 variants in Indonesia.
“Several variants have entered Indonesia, including the Alpha, Beta, and Delta variatns. These variants are a result of mutation because the virus adapts to the host. Research has shown that the Delta variant is the most contagious one. Therefore, we need to improve our implementation of health protocol,” he added.
The event included a dissemination of MantaPHSS application by Dadang Catur Budi Prasetyo, the Assistant Manager of ICT Operations in Zone 9. The application, which had been used in PHSS, is expected to be used in a wider scope by all Zone 9 officers to facilitate clocking in and writing health report.
Zone 9 of Subholding Upstream Regional Kalimantan is committed to continue its efforts in overcoming and preventing the spread of COVID-19 through the acceleration of vaccination and the implementation of stricter health protocol in offices and among the individual officers of Zone 9.
