The Development of Sejadi Field Increases Oil and Gas Production for PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur

Balikpapan—PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) has successfully drilled two development wells at the Sejadi Field in the Southern Operation Area (DOBS), resulting in a production rate of 1,492 barrels per day (BOPD). This achievement follows the company's success in 2022 when PHKT increased its oil and gas production by 1,678 BOPD and 3.2 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).

GM of Zona 10, Yoseph Agung Prihartono, stated that developing the Sejadi field is a strategic move for the company in maintaining oil and gas production in the East Kalimantan & Attaka Working Area. "We continue to invest in drilling new wells, which is crucial for sustaining oil and gas production, national energy security, and supporting Pertamina's energy transition policies," he said.

Yoseph added that PHKT continues implementing various innovations and technologies in its operations and business, based on best practices in the national and global oil and gas industry. "The development of the Sejadi Field involves a multidisciplinary approach, including geophysics, geology, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering," Yoseph explained. The two Sejadi wells were drilled using the jack-up rig Asian Endeavour-1 (AE-1).

According to Yoseph, the increase in production and reserves from the Sejadi wells boosts the company's confidence in developing these highly mature offshore fields.

This drilling program is a collaboration among all functions at PHKT, supported by PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) as the parent company, and the Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities for the Kalimantan Sulawesi representative (SKK Migas Kalsul) and Subholding Upstream.

"We believe this success results from collaboration between the company and all stakeholders, especially the government, the community, and partners. The sustainability of oil and gas production from the Sejadi Field and other PHKT fields plays a crucial role in meeting national energy needs, including for developing the new capital city (IKN) in East Kalimantan," he concluded.

PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) operates under Subholding Upstream Regional 3, led by PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), and manages upstream oil and gas operations by Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. Through collaboration with SKK Migas, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) and its subsidiaries and affiliates continue to innovate and apply technology to produce safe, efficient, reliable, compliant, and environmentally friendly energy, fulfilling the #EnergiKalimantanUntukIndonesia mission.
