Bunyu – PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Bunyu Field held an oil spill management exercise in the waters of Bunyu Island, North Kalimantan, on 23-25 ​​September 2023. The training activity was intended to prepare personnel and equipment for emergencies.

This exercise involved internal participants of the SERT (Site Emergency Response Team) team and external participants, including the Class III Bunyu Island Port Management Unit (KUPP) Office and the Bunyu Community Health Center.

PEP Bunyu Field Manager Andry Sehang explained that the training aims to provide an understanding of emergency response procedures and train the SERT team's readiness to face disasters.

"This exercise encourages the ability of teams and participants to implement emergency crisis management, both internal and external, quickly and precisely, which will support the safety of oil and gas operations," explained Andry.

According to Andry, this emergency response training activity is one of the Company's efforts to ensure the safety of all stakeholders, including workers, work partners, and the community in the Company's operational areas.

"Safety aspects are the main priority in all of the Company's operations and business activities; the Company always implements the best HSSE practices in managing oil and gas operations to produce safe, environmentally friendly, and sustainable energy," he added.

On a separate occasion, HSSE Zone 10 Manager Rotua Elyzabeth added that this training activity was an effort to prepare SERT to face emergency conditions at Bunyu Field and ensure that oil spill emergency response could be carried out quickly and precisely to prevent escalation.

"This 2-day training between the SERT Bunyu Field team, KUPP Bunyu, and Puskesmas Bunyu was carried out to increase cooperation and coordination between related agencies in handling emergencies in Bunyu," he concluded.
