Samarinda - PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) conducted a skill enhancement program for local youth through a two-day Microsoft Office Training held on February 9-10, 2024. PHSS carried out this training initiative through a partnership between PHSS and the Kutai Lama Village Government in Kutai Kartanegara (Kukar).
The training participants, 16 individuals aged 18 to 25, received materials covering Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft PowerPoint from beginner to intermediate levels.
Elis Fauziyah, Head of Comrel & CID Zona 9, conveyed that PHSS supports the development of local youth capacities through various CSR programs in the education field organized by the company. Elis also stated that PHSS consistently collaborates with local governments and stakeholders involved in community development in the company's operational area.
"Through this Microsoft Office software application training, we hope participants can enhance their skills to support excellent work and performance," explained Elis.
The Head of Kutai Lama Village, Mullidin, stated that the youth in his village have the potential to excel in the application of supportive software. However, they frequently need more facilities and training to improve their skills.
"With this training, we aim to address the issue of inadequate training. As representatives of the village, we hope that the participants can utilize the acquired knowledge to enhance their competitiveness in the job market," stated Mullidin.
One of the participants, Rasti Nur Azzahra, expressed that this training helped her improve her understanding and proficiency in using supportive applications like Microsoft Office. "The materials provided are easy to understand and apply. The certificate from this training will meet the requirements needed for job applications," she added.
On a separate occasion, the Manager of Communication Relations & CID of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia revealed the company's policy of continuing to implement innovative and sustainable CSR programs as a crucial step in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
"In this training program, we aim to support the achievement of SDGs, especially related to goal No. 4, which is quality education, and goal No. 8, which is decent work and economic growth," he stated.
According to Dony, PHI believes that the progress of society through education and training will support the success of the company's operations and business in continuously producing oil and gas for Indonesia. Therefore, Dony added that in 2024, the company plans to start the "Sobat Bumi Kalimantan" Scholarship program, which provides educational assistance for undergraduate-level education for high school students from low-income families in the company's operational area.
