Balikpapan– One of the subsidiaries of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), namely PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), succeeded in encouraging dozens of its workers to become active again in the PHM Mengajar Program in areas around the SPS, HCA, NPU, SPU and CPU oil and gas fields in East Kalimantan.
This routine program carried out since 2019, aims to increase the insight and knowledge of high school/vocational school/MA level students and non-formal schools, such as the Community Learning Activity Center (PKBM). This program touches the academic and non-academic sides of students through fun learning activities delivered by volunteers consisting of Company workers.
PHI's Communication Relations & CID Manager, Dony Indrawan, said that in the first month of implementing the PHM Teaching Program, there were already 21 PHM workers active in the program and more than 390 students from 13 schools.
"Even though it was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2022, the PHM Mengajar Program is one of the activities in the Community Development Program (PPM or CSR) which has been reactivated by encouraging and involving workers through Employee Volunteerism and the hope is that it can increase workers' contributions in CSR program for the community," continued Dony.
According to Dony, the PHM Mengajar Program is carried out in several remote areas as a form of the Company's commitment to CSR programs that support achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), especially Goal 4, namely Quality Education.
Meanwhile, Head of Communication Relations & CID PHM, Frans Alexander A. Hukom, revealed that the Company encourages workers who have a passion or interest in teaching from various entities/functions voluntarily (volunteer).
"Program PHM Teaching provides a platform for involved in employee volunteerism activities, especially those who have a passion for sharing knowledge, through this learning activity. "The sharing carried out by the workers includes academic fields such as mathematics and English subjects, as well as sharing about oil and gas business activities as knowledge for the students," said Frans.
The learning material delivered by workers in this program in learning sessions and attractive knowledge sharing by teaching creativity, increasing knowledge and insight, and motivating school students. It is not uncommon for learning to be interspersed with educational games to facilitate student interaction.
PHM Teaching will be held simultaneously starting in August 2023 and will last until December 2023, with the frequency of activities varying from routine implementation every week to every month. Enthusiasm and acceptance from the school, community, local government, and observers in other educational fields are considered very good for this activity.
