Support for Local Youth Capacity Development: PHSS, PEP Sangatta Field, and Sangasanga Field Re-Launch Oil and Gas Operator Training and Certification

Samarinda– PT Pertamina Hulu Sangasanga (PHSS), PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field, and PEP Sangatta Field have once again launched a Training and Certification Program for Oil and Gas Health and Safety (K3) Operators and Well Service Floor Operators, commonly known as rig flooring, for local youth from the areas surrounding the Company's operations. This training and certification program involves 22 participants from Muara Badak, Marangkayu, Sangatta Selatan, Anggana, Muara Jawa, Samboja, Samboja Barat, and Sangasanga.

The training and certification program, a collaboration with the Oil and Gas Human Resources Development Center (PPSDM Migas), was officially launched at the Recreation Hall A PHSS Badak Field on Monday (July 22). The activities will take place from July 22 to August 13, 2024, in a hybrid format (online and offline) in Muara Badak and Cepu, Central Java, for intensive training and examinations.

PHSS Field Manager Iva Kurnia Mahardi stated that the program aims to enhance job skills and local human resource capacity. "We believe that improving local human resources' capacity and skills will provide them with better opportunities to compete in the job market, start businesses, and become productive, high-performing individuals," Iva explained.

Iva added that this program reflects the Company's commitment to continuously supporting skill enhancement through local human resource training and development to create a thriving and self-reliant community.

Meanwhile, Wisnu Wardhana, Head of the Formalities and Communication Department of SKK Migas Kalimantan and Sulawesi Representative (SKK Migas Kalsul), conveyed that this training and certification program is part of the upstream oil and gas industry's commitment to fulfilling the Memorandum of Understanding with the Kutai Kartanegara Regency government in developing local human resources. Wisnu added that the program is tangible evidence of the upstream oil and gas industry's presence and benefits within the community. "We hope that with the knowledge and benefits from this training and certification, participants will gain skills and certifications, as well as broader job opportunities wherever they may be," he said.

The training and certification program was initiated last year. One participant from the 2023 cohort, Thalia Winda, expressed that she was very impressed and gained significant benefits from the program. "This training and certification have made it easier for me to find a job because I have a national license. The training also provided learning on early response and mitigation in the oil and gas work environment," said Thalia, now working at PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional in Balikpapan.

In a separate statement, Manager of Communication Relations & CID at PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Dony Indrawan explained PHI and its subsidiaries' commitment to supporting economic development and community self-reliance through various CSR.
