Jakarta- One of the subsidiaries of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), namely PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), succeeded in discovering new oil and gas resources in the drilling of the Helios D-1 (HLX D-1) exploration well and added oil and gas reserves from the drilling of development wells LSE-1147 which is located in PT Pertamina EP's Louise Field.
The two wells were drilled on October 5, 2022, with the drilling route of the Louise-1147 development well reaching a depth of 4470 ftMD (feet of rated depth), and continued with the drilling of the Helios D-1 exploration well to a final depth of 9368 ftMD in the Balang Island Formation.
Pertamina Hulu Indonesia VP Exploration Sri Hartanto explained that Helios D-1 is one of the 4 (four) PHSS exploration definite commitment wells, which has a role as a play opener to prove the presence of overpressured hydrocarbons at a new objective that is deeper than the interval, which has proven productive in the Louise Field as well as in the PHSS WK.
"With the proven hydrocarbon content in the Helios D-1 well, further evaluation of the potential for other new play areas can be carried out to increase the discovery of oil and gas reserves and support the continuity of PHSS production," said Sri Hartanto.
President Director of Pertamina Hulu Indonesia, Chalid Said Salim, revealed that the company implemented synergies between subsidiaries and a borderless strategy to optimize the management of oil and gas working areas to generate significant value for all stakeholders.
"This drilling is a synergy between PHSS and PEP Sangasanga Field in managing the Work Area (WK), which overlaps with each other in line with the management agreement based on depth rights (depth). These two entities are under the management of Regional 3 Kalimantan Zone 9," said Chalid.
According to Chalid, the success of this drilling will be followed by a further evaluation to unlock the next potential target at the Helios Complex, namely the Helios Structures A, B, C, and E in the PHSS WK. The Helios D-1 drilling was carried out with the Elnusa EMR-01 Rig, which has a safe working hour of more than 1.2 million hours and has been operating in the Sanga Sanga area since November 2018.
"Our success in discovering new oil and gas resources and reserves from exploration and exploitation activities is a form of the Company's commitment to supporting the achievement of Indonesia's oil and gas production target in 2030," said Chalid.
