Samboja - Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field carried out endemic Kalimantan tree planting activities to support greening in the Company's operational area after the Samboja P-9 drilling on Wednesday (9/11). This activity was attended by the Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan, Hadi Mulyadi, Head of SKK Migas Kalsul Representative Azhari Idris, Senior Manager of PEP Sangasanga Field Gondo Irwan, Muspika Samboja District, as well as the management of Zone 9 and PEP Sangasanga Field.
Gondo Irwan said that this planting was carried out as a form of PEP Sangasanga Field's commitment to minimizing oil and gas operations for the environment. "We are reforesting after land clearing as one of the upstream oil and gas operation processes. Today we planted 400 bengkirai tree seedlings as endemic trees of Kalimantan. We will plant 2,000 tree seedlings, and PEP Sangasanga will carry it out sustainably," said Gondo.
According to Gondo, this greening activity is also carried out to support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) No. 13 on Handling Climate Change and No. 15 on The Sustainability of Mainland Ecosystems.
Gondo added that PEP Sangasanga Field has three areas that are the concentration of drilling activities, namely Sangasanga, Samboja, and Anggana, wherein these three areas of greening will continue to be carried out.
"Last year, we planted about 2,500 trees in Samboja. With enough drilling activities, we will continue to be committed to the environment, including the empowerment of the surrounding community in supporting environmental management. Like the fertilizer for this tree, we take it from the processed partners of PEP Sangasanga, namely the Setaria Farmer Group," he said.
On the same occasion, Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan Hadi Mulyadi expressed his appreciation to PEP Sangasanga Field, who cares about the environment by planting trees. He also appreciated Samboja as one of the wells that produce large enough petroleum in East Kalimantan to be processed into fuel.
Supporting the statement, Azhari Idris said that this tree planting is one of the actions toward zero emissions in the upstream oil and gas industry. "Along with the massive oil and gas operations, greening must continue to be carried out following the commitment to where our field must plant the trees we cut down. Hopefully, this tree planting will be something good for the upstream oil and gas industry and beneficial for the communities around the operating area," he added.
During this event, donations were also handed over to children from orphanages and orphanages around Samboja and then closed with suave and shooting sports with guests at Yonkav 13 Satya Lembuswana Samboja.
