Balikpapan– PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) was awarded for its active role in humanitarian blood donation activities within the company's operational areas. The award was presented by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Balikpapan City during the celebration of World Blood Donor Day on June 15, 2024, which also marked the 20th anniversary of blood donation activities within PMI Balikpapan.

PMI Balikpapan City awarded private institutions, government entities, schools, state-owned enterprises, and shopping centers in appreciation of their support in maintaining blood supply availability. The 20th-anniversary celebration was officially opened by the Assistant III for General Administration of the Balikpapan City Secretariat, Dr. Andi Sri Juliarty, who represented the Mayor of Balikpapan. This year's theme was "Celebrating 20 Years of Giving, Thank You, Blood Donors."

Assistant III expressed gratitude to the PMI Balikpapan management and the community for actively donating blood. Andi Sri Juliarty also urged all parties to use World Blood Donor Day to raise public awareness about the importance of donating blood and understanding safe blood products. "Donating blood also means saving lives. Every day, many people need blood for various purposes such as transfusions, surgeries, and treating certain diseases," she explained.

General Manager of Zona 10 Subholding Upstream Pertamina, Yoseph Agung Prihartono, expressed his appreciation to PMI Balikpapan for the award given to PHKT. "The award we received motivates us even more to continue organizing these blood donation activities. Blood donation is one proof of implementing humanitarian values because the donated blood is very beneficial for those in need. Donating blood is akin to giving life to others," he added.

Meanwhile, Assistant Manager of Health, Dr. Suhartono, explained the benefits of blood donation. "PHKT's regular blood donation activities, held every three months, also aim to raise awareness about the health benefits of donating blood and to foster social care among all employees and partners," he said. Blood donation, Suhartono continued, makes the body healthier and fitter.
