Balikpapan - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) inaugurated the HSSE Demo Room facility and won a certificate as the 29th HSSE Demo Room in the SHU environment that has met Pertamina's standards. The certificate was given by the Acting SVP HSSE of PT Pertamina (Persero), Suripno, to the General Manager of PHM, Krisna, which was held at the Opening of the K3 Month at the Balikpapan Training Center (BTC) (20/1/23). 

Suripno appreciated PHM's success in building the HSSE Demo Room according to the standards of the "HSSE Passport Management" Guidelines No. A7-002/S00100/2019-S0. According to him, all active officers in the Pertamina Operation Unit are expected to be able to take part in training in the HSSE Demo Room before entering the work site to identify potential hazards and control them quickly and precisely to avoid incidents.

To get the HSSE Demo Room PHM certificate, it must go through the verification stage by the HSSE team from Pertamina Persero on December 21, 2022. HSSE Demo Room certification indicates that the Demo Room is by the Organizational Work Procedure (TKO) and can be used for training to support creating a positive safety culture in PHM.

Suripno believes that the Corporate Life Saving Rules (CLSR) Training in the Demo Room can reduce the number of work accidents and improve Pertamina's overall performance to realize reliable operating performance and HSSE.

"With the already high level of HSSE culture, PHM needs to increase the small population that is still at the pathological level. Asset Integrity must be managed properly because the probability of major accidents due to Loss of Primary Containment (LOPC) increases because many PHM production facilities are mature," explained Suripno.

Suripno added that this is in line with Pertamina's ESG strategy, Prevention of Major Accidents which is 1 of Pertamina's 10 Sustainability Focus to support the aspirations of world-class energy companies with a market value of 100 billion USD.

Meanwhile, Krisna expressed joy at the inauguration of the HSSE Demo Room and expressed her appreciation to all PHM workers for their excellent achievements in the K3LL field throughout 2022. It is recorded that PHM reached 1660 days of zero loss of working days in 2022. On January 19, 2023, PHM added a record of up to 1679 zero Lost Working Days with a total of 133,466,890 working hours.

"The 15 CLSR training facility in the HSSE Demo Room is a tangible manifestation of PHM management's commitment to improving the safety culture in the Mahakam area of operation and is intended for all Officers who are engaged in activities here," explained Krisna.

The 15 CLSR training in the future will be mandatory for PHM Officers to know important information related to work locations and how to work safely for various activities. Participants will receive an HSSE Passport after being declared to have passed the training test. This HSSE Passport can signify that a person can enter and work at a PHM production facility, which is not currently mandatory. Effective January 1, 2024, HSSE Passport will be compulsory for all PHM production facilities workers.

Given the high risks in the upstream oil and gas business sector, according to Krisna, CLSR Subholding Upstream has 3 more rules than PT Pertamina (Persero) CLSR, which focuses on routine and non-routine activities with high recordable incident potential.

"HSSE Demo Room is one of Pertamina's CLSR implementation platforms for risk control so that PHM can carry out all upstream oil and gas operations safely, " said Krisna.

This HSSE Demo Room PHM carries a fresh and comfortable theme and supports efficiency measures using unused assets for several props. Through these used props, the trainees can also observe and discuss with the trainer the condition of the suitable and unsuitable tools. The HSSE Demo Room PHM will then be proposed as a venue for the Training of Trainer (ToT) Demo Room in East Kalimantan Province.
