Balikpapan- PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) held a simulation for handling emergency conditions in the form of an earthquake disaster in the PHM Balikpapan Base Office (BBO) area. This simulation aims to test the readiness and vigilance of workers in the event of an emergency and to train mass casualty management (17/05/2023).
This simulation is an annual activity to continue to educate workers in handling disaster incidents based on company rules regarding Scenarios for Handling Mass Accidents and Management of Medical Emergencies and Evacuations in PHM Areas. This time, the simulation was carried out through the collaboration of the EIT team, medical team (HSSE/HEA), security team (HSSE/SEC), RSES BBO (SCM), and Relations team (CRC).
Acting General Manager of PHM Ferico Afrinas said that the Company always carries out procedures for handling disaster incidents that are immediate and measurable to protect the safety of workers, the community, operating facilities and the environment.
"This simulation is essential to ensure that all parties in the PHM organization carry out their roles by the principles, policies, regulations and best practices in the field of safety as the main foundation in all of the company's oil and gas operations and business activities," said Federico.
Federico added that when an emergency occurs, PHM works with various stakeholders, including the authorities, to secure the scene and ensure safety and security for workers, partners and the community in the Company's work area.
The simulation activity started at 10.00 WITA, which began with a siren in the BBO Restaurant Mess Building area. Apart from involving the Company's internal parties, this simulation is supported by PHM's partner hospitals, namely the Siloam Hospital and Pertamina Balikpapan Hospital (RSPB), the Balikpapan City Health Office, and the Balikpapan City Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD).
