Supporting the development of quality vocational education, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur runs a teaching layoff Program.

Marangkayu — PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) is running a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program in the form of the PHKT Mengajar program. This time, PHKT workers from the Maintenance Function at the Santan Terminal were directly involved in repairing practical equipment and compiling car electrical modules for the Heavy Equipment Engineering Department (TAB) at SMKN 1 Marangkayu.

Together with educators at the school, volunteers from PHKT successfully formulated a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) module for car electrical demonstration equipment that was previously unusable. As a result, it is now functioning again and ready to be used in the learning process. This activity also serves as a follow-up to the Industrial Work Practice Program (PRAKERIN), which has created an opportunity for knowledge transfer between PHKT experts and vocational educators.

Superintendent of the Santan Terminal PHKT Muhammad Yasin conveyed the company's commitment to supporting the development of industry-based vocational education, including through the PHKT Mengajar Program. "We believe that the best investment for this nation starts from the classroom. The contribution of PHKT workers today is a small part of a big step towards a generation of vocational graduates who are resilient, competitive, and adaptive to technology," he said.

The handover of the tools and modules was carried out by Muhammad Yasin in June, which was received directly by the Principal of SMKN 1 Marangkayu, Edi Sopyan, and witnessed by the School Supervisor, Wahono, as well as the ranks of teachers and school staff. As part of the ongoing program, PHKT also invited teachers directly to the Santan Terminal operational facilities. There, they received training in operating the tools directly from PHKT workers. This is a real manifestation of the spirit of link and match between education and industry, which is believed to be the key to national competitiveness.

The Principal of SMKN 1 Marangkayu said that what was witnessed that day was not just a handover of tools, but an affirmation of the importance of connectivity between the classroom and the real world. "PHKT has presented meaningful interventions, not only for students, but also for teachers and the quality of teaching," said Edi Sopyan.

Meanwhile, Communication Relations & CID Manager of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Dony Indrawan explained that the PHKT Mengajar Program is one of the company's CSR programs in the field of education. "We believe that developing community capacity through education, including vocational education, is a strategic step that can encourage independence and progress for the community and their future," he explained.

According to Dony, in the PHKT Mengajar program, the company carries the spirit of employee voluntarism in supporting the development of education quality in the company's operational areas. "The program is a form of support to strengthen learning that is applicable, relevant, and in line with the needs of today's work world," he added.

According to him, this program is designed to strengthen the synergy between the education sector and industry, not only as a means of supporting the improvement of education quality, but also as a strategic collaboration that fosters sustainable capacity building among the younger generation. "Through this activity, PHKT contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals/SDGs, especially Goal 4 on Quality Education, Goal 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, and Goal 17 on Partnerships to Achieve the Goals, by encouraging the active involvement of various stakeholders in creating an education ecosystem that is relevant, inclusive, and adaptive to industry needs," he concluded.
