Balikpapan – PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) runs the Kampung Pesisir Lestari Program Rawa Hutan School based on improving the quality and access to an environmentally sound education in the 3T area, Remote, Frontier, and Disadvantaged. It located in Tani Baru Village, Anggana District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency.
The PHM Field North Processing Unit (NPU) community development program was initiated in 2018 by conducting social mapping, such as: Increasing the capacity of students and teachers, Socialization of adiwiyata schools and mangrove care campaigns, assistance in facilities and infrastructure (solar electricity (SHS) and Gapura), S1 Linear Teacher Scholarships and PHM NPU Teaching. Until now, the Rawa Hutan School program has focused on coastal undergraduate scholarships and the development of the PKBM Nurul Ilmi Community Reading Park.
Head of Communication, Relations, & CID Zona 8 of PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, Frans A.Hukom said that the Forest Swamp School Program has an impact on improving the quality of educators in Coastal areas, especially in Tani Baru Village. It was reducing the impact of environmental damage through renewable energy with solar electricity, waste management installations, and the increasing number of students who continue their education to higher education.
"PHM believes that the Company's contribution in supporting environmentally sound education can provide achievements for the quality of Human Resources and high environmental care around the operating area. Therefore, PHM continues to synergize in various community development programs in the field of education like Kampung Pesisir Lestari that can benefit the community, companies, and all stakeholders," explained Frans.
This CSR program is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, the quality of education that aims to improve education for the people of Indonesia will spur the achievement of other goals and objectives in the 17 points of the SDGs to improve Indonesia's human development index. So it is hoped that the role of education to increase Indonesia's competitiveness in supporting the 2030 SDGs.
