Jakarta — PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI), through its subsidiaries PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) Northern Operational Area (DOBU), PHKT Southern Operational Area (DOBS), and PT Pertamina EP Bunyu Field, has received three international awards, including The Small-Medium Enterprise Corporate Social Responsibility Award (The SME CSR Awards/UKM TJSL) Asia 2024. This award ceremony is a collaboration between La Tofi School of Social Responsibility and Portman Education Group, Malaysia.
The awards were presented at an event in Jakarta on Monday (1/4) by La Tofi, Chairman of La Tofi School of Social Responsibility and Chairman of the Jury, and Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, to PHI Communication Relations & CID Manager Dony Indrawan and Sr. Manager of PT Pertamina EP Bunyu Field, Andry Sehang.
In his address, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, discussed the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), which has existed since 2015. According to Iqbal, the economic conditions of ASEAN countries can progress well, partly due to the contribution of SMEs.
"Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) are the backbone of the ASEAN economy, as 95% of companies in ASEAN countries fall into the SME category," he stated. He also highlighted that the presence of SMEs contributes to increased employment, with many exports coming from SMEs.
PHI Communication Relations & CID Manager Dony Indrawan expressed the company's joy over the awards received as a third-party recognition of the company's commitment to supporting community development, especially SMEs.
"PHI and its subsidiaries and affiliates are committed to implementing the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, which support community development and empowerment in line with the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "In practice, we apply social and environmental innovations in the company's CSR programs to provide significant and sustainable impacts on communities, including in the development of SMEs," explained Dony when receiving the award.
The implementation of innovative CSR programs, as done by PHKT and PEP Bunyu Field, continued Dony, is a manifestation of the company's commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles. "We believe that the success of the company's CSR programs is the result of collaboration between the company and all stakeholders, especially the community and the government," emphasized Dony.
Each of PHI's three subsidiaries received awards for the following categories:
(1) Development of SME farmers/Fishermen Groups with the Kampung Kopi Luwak Village Farmer Group program.
(2) Development of Women's SMEs Groups with the Smart and Food-Aware Mushroom Planting (SEMUR CENDAWAN) program.
(3) Development of Youth/Student SMEs Groups with the Young Empowered: Pertamina EP Banyu Field Synergy Developing Karya Muda Karang Taruna into Independent Youths program.
The winners of this event have the opportunity to pursue education or certification related to CSR.
At this event, the book "CSR UP" by Prof. Ibnu Hamad, Professor of Communication at the University of Indonesia, and the book "CSR Manual" by Aris Darmono, Sustainability Expert at La Tofi School of Social Responsibility, were also launched.
