PT Pertamina EP Sangasanga Field Improves the Economy of 677 Farmers Through Integrated Agricultural Social Innovation named Tante Siska

Sangasanga - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field has succeeded in improving the economic level of farmers through agricultural social innovation in the Integrated Agriculture Program of the Setaria Group Social Innovation System (TANTE SISKA) in Sarijaya Village, Sangasanga District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan. 

TANTE SISKA is an integrated farming program that has been running since 2019. This program aims to develop agricultural activities with circular economy schemes and social innovation systems that prioritize efficiency and develop product diversity in an environmentally friendly manner.

The Head of the Setaria Group, Sutrimo, recounted the beginning of the TANTE SISKA Program due to land difficulties and the farmers' high fertilizer cost. PEP Sangasanga Field is also assisting by running an integrated agricultural system that connects the fields of animal husbandry, fertilizer processing, and processing of farm products; so that no agricultural waste is wasted. 

"The fostered programs carried out with PEP Sangasanga Field include vertical garden farming, rainwater utilization, rain harvester utilization, citronella distillation, and distillation of burnt husk smoke. In addition, we also produce and sell organic fertilizers, the production of telang flower drinks, and citronella hydrosol essential oil," added Sutrimo. 

Sutimo, who also acts as a Local Hero driving the Tante Siska program, added that the replication of knowledge had been carried out to students and students to create an entrepreneurial spirit in agriculture. According to him, there are currently 16 farmers who manage integrated agriculture, and as many as 114 other members of farmer groups know the same field. As many as 677 people are listed as beneficiaries of the Siska Aunt Program. 

"We hope that TANTE SISKA can support the creation of food sovereignty for the wider community," said Sutrimo. 

Senior Manager of PEP Sangasanga Field, Gondo Irawan, said that the Company runs various CSR programs. In this TANTE SISKA program, the Company optimizes the integrated agricultural process by integrating four activity areas: animal husbandry, organic fertilizer, agriculture, and development. PEP Sangasanga Field applies a strategy of optimizing derivative products and utilizing agricultural waste in each field to be environmentally friendly. 

"We are committed to running oil and gas operations that are safe, effective, efficient, compliant, and environmentally friendly, as well as making various breakthroughs and innovations to continue to provide value to all stakeholders," said Gondo. 

The results of the Study of the Bogor Agricultural LPPM Service University in 2020 stated that one innovation of Tante Siska, namely the Damkar innovation, succeeded in reducing CO2 emissions by 7.76 tons of CO2eq / year. This innovation converts fuel fumes into liquid smoke and can be used as a mixture of compost and liquid fertilizer. Damkar Innovation is part of the Company's Eco-Innovation, which is integrated with the Company's principal values. 

"Thanks to the innovations carried out, the group's revenue reached IDR 354 million / year in 2021, or more than 27 million per month. In other words, this program has successfully responded to problems that exist in the area around the Company's operations," said Gondo.

This year PEP Sangasanga Field has the opportunity to become a candidate for the Golden Environmental Management Company Performance Rating (PROPER) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) RI. Gold Proper is the highest award level, meaning that the Company has managed the environment beyond what is required.  

The Deputy Governor of East Kalimantan, Hadi Mulyadi, gave a high award to PEP Sangasanga Field for its community empowerment programs in the environmental, socio-economic and educational fields. The gold proper achieved in 2021 can continue to be maintained because this gold proper is not just a symbol of appreciation but a work for the nation's children. 

"Hopefully this empowerment program can be carried out well and continue to be sustainable to build East Kalimantan and build Indonesia," said Hadi. 

The TANTE SISKA CSR Program, assisted by PEP Sangasanga Field, won Gold at the E2S Proving League 2022 and the Best Community Program Gold Category award at the 14th Annual Global CSR Award 2022 in Hanoi, Vietnam.
