PHM Supports The Addition of National Oil and Gas Production Through The Increase in Gas Production of the Nubi Side Field That Reaches the Level of 160 Million Cubic Feet

Jakarta - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) has succeeded in increasing its contribution to the achievement of national gas production through the Sisi Nubi Offshore Field that experienced an increase in output to the level of 160 MMscfd (million standard cubic feet) on October 20, 2022. Previously, the Nubi Side field experienced a declining phase to the level of 60 MMscfd in July 2020.

Currently, the Sisi Nubi field contributes almost 30% of gas production from the Mahakam Working Area (WK) where previously the highest achievement in November 2019.

General Manager of PHM Krisna said that the success of increasing PHM gas production has a positive impact on the oil and gas incentives that have been given by the government to PHM in 2021, in the form of accelerating depreciation and exemption from VAT, so that PHM can build additional platforms and drill more new wells to support increased production.

"We are implementing drilling practices that are more effective, efficient, and fast in finding new oil and gas resources from exploration and development (exploitation) activities. This achievement is the realization of the Company's work program that is supported by the approval of oil and gas incentives from the government," said Krisna.

Krisna explained that this increase in production contributed to the new platform wells in North Sisi and North Nubi that began operating in June and August 2022, as well as maintenance and intervention programs on existing wells.

"The continuity of production in the Nubi Side Field is supported by the reliability of production facilities that have undergone a systematic maintenance program and piping inspections that are carried out regularly. In addition, this increase in field production can be realized thanks to good collaboration between all related functions, including Subsurface Development & Planning, Project, Drilling & Intervention, and Production Operations," explained Krisna.

According to him, the success achieved by PHM in the Sisi Nubi field cannot be separated from the support of SKK Migas and PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) as the parent company. The new well drilling program in this field is still ongoing and is expected to contribute to the addition of national gas production from Mahakam.

"We are committed to continuing to invest and drill new wells as a strategic step in containing the rate of natural production decline and maintaining oil and gas production levels to support the achievement of the 2030 national oil and gas production target," concluded Krisna.

Sisi Field discovered in 1986, and Nubi field in 1992. Gas reserves from the Sisi Nubi field are produced together through several offshore platforms and then flowed through a 26" pipe to Slugcatcher SNPS, and then a treatment process is carried out at Tunu Processing Facilities.
