Anggana, 11 April 2019 - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), as the operator of Mahakam Work Area, with the support of the Upstream Oil and Gas Special Regulatory Task Force (SKK Migas), facilitated a partnership between PHM Business Partners and Handil Terusan Village-owned enterprise in the Handil Terusan Hamlet, Anggana District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The partnership signing was witnessed by Kutai Kartanegara Regent, Edi Damansyah, SKK Migas Kalimantan and Sulawesi representative, PHM Sustainable Development and Societal Relations (SDSS) Division Suripno, as well as Anggana District Head Forum and local residents.
As part of its operation, PHM also empowered local SMEs in the Kutai Kartanegara area. In the agreed partnership scheme, Handil Terusan Village-owned Enterprise would supply crackers produced by local SMEs for 80 kg/moth to PT Gobel Dharma Sarana Karya, as the catering contractor for PHM. The crackers would be part the menu for 3 PHM production fields: NPU, SPU and CPU. The cooperation agreement was a form of PHM's support to the local community around its operation area through the SMEs promotion and marketing assistance. SDS Division Head, Suripno, said: "This effort is a form PHM's commitment to improve local SMEs' capacity."
With the empowerment spirit to directly improve the local community's economy, the company started partnerships with several village-owned enterprises through the Community Development Program (PPM) since 2017 in the form of material procurement and project implementation.
Kutai Kartanegara Regent also officiated the Handil Terusan Auxiliary Community Health Center. The facility was a semi-permanent building that had been operating since 1995, but because it was often hit by tidal floods, the equipment often broke. In 2018, PHM started to relocate the facility to a new location on a 800 m2 land. The construction lasted for 4 months and it partnered with the Handil Terusan Community Empowerment Institution.
