PHM Conducts Employee Volunteerism and Vocational Training for Youth Development in Kutai Kartanegara

Kutai Kartanegara - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) has organized vocational training for 76 youths in the vicinity of the company's operational areas in the Districts of Samboja and Muara Jawa, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, in November 2023. This activity collaborated with an employee volunteerism program, enlisting four PHM workers from the Sanipah Peciko South Mahakam (SPS) Field as trainers across four vocational fields: Maritime Terminology, Carpentry, Automotive Mechanics, and HVAC Engineering.

General Manager of PHM, Setyo Sapto Edi, expressed the company's commitment to enhancing human resource capacity, particularly among youth in the areas surrounding the company's operations in East Kalimantan.

"Vocational training is one of the focuses of our Community Development Program (CDP), which PHM consistently conducts in the field of education. This program spanned seven days, during which the youth chose one of the vocational fields aligned with their interests, held at the BP2TK Building in two phases. The first phase took place from November 18th to 21st, 2023, and the second phase from November 26th to 28th, 2023," explained Edi.

Throughout 2023, according to Edi, PHM has consistently executed various human resource development activities involving competent and certified PHM workers in their respective fields. "This program aligns with the priorities set by the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government, specifically focusing on human resource development for the community," added Edi.

Participants who completed the vocational training received certificates from the company and the Kutai Kartanegara District Transmigration and Manpower Office. One of the participants, Rian Alfian from the Samboja District, shared his experience, stating that this vocational training was excellent for broadening insights and developing skills among the youth.

Head of Communication Relations & CID PHM, Frans Alexander A. Hukom, unveiled PHM's steps to continuously improve human resources, particularly in the areas around its operations, including through vocational training activities as an implementation of the company's ESG performance management in the Social aspect related to Community Impact, this aims to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly goal 4, concerning Quality Education.

"Vocational training activities offer an opportunity for participants to gain knowledge and skills, both in theory and practice, to enhance their competencies taught by PHM workers," Frans explained.

The vocational field preferences that most participated among the participants were automotive mechanics (28 participants), HVAC engineering (21 participants), and maritime terminology (18 participants). Additionally, 9 participants attended the Carpenter class.

 

"We also contribute to the vocational training collaboration between SKK Migas Kalimantan Sulawesi and the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Government at Petrotekno Batam, which has been ongoing since October 18th, 2023, and will conclude in January 2024, primarily regarding welder certification," Frans stated.

Currently, 20 youths in the Kukar area have passed the selection process and received an opportunity to attend nationally and internationally certified vocational training for 3.5 months.
