Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) is optimistic that the environmental management program and the company's social and environmental responsibility program will bring PHI to achieve the Gold PROPER in 2021.

Manager of Communication Relations & CID PHI-Regional 3 Kalimantan, Dony Indrawan, said that PHI carries out corporate social and environmental responsibility activities which are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Various programs have also been implemented based on the results of social mapping by formulating the potential and problems of the local area.

This year, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia through the Company Performance Rating Program in Environmental Management (PROPER) has decided sixteen oil and gas fields PHI-Regional 3 Kalimantan received green PROPER candidates and seven of them received gold PROPER candidates.

The seven fields that become the Gold PROPER candidates are: PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam BSP Field; PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam SPU Field; PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan DOBU Field; PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan DOBS Field; PT Pertamina EP Sangasanga Field; PT Pertamina EP Tanjung Field; and PT Pertamina EP Tarakan Field.

Donny stated that, “Thanks to the synergy with the local community and local government, including the fostered partners, the positive alteration created by our CSR program are being appreciated by the foster partners and the wider community. Both the impact of improving the community's economy or environmental sustainability. Not to mention, even the social and environmental innovations are consistently implemented.”

Dony explained that, each field has its own unique program. PHM-BSP field with the Advanced Farmers 4.0 program, namely a program to increase the capacity of local young farmers through pertaculture innovation; and the PHM-SPU field with the Nelayanku Hebat program, which develops fish apartment and fishfinder innovations as part of the environmentally friendly fisheries system of the Mahakam Delta.

In the PHKT-DOBU field there is the Butrain program, namely a community empowerment program in the environmental field by utilizing and managing organic waste through the cultivation of BSF (Black Soldier Fly) flies, the results of which are used as alternative animal feed; and the PHKT-DOBS field has the Kampung Kopi Luwak program in Prangat Baru Village (Kapak Prabu), through the empowerment of farmer groups in the Kopi Luwak village that are organized, with the purpose to become an edutourism icon for Kopi Luwak Liberika.

Meanwhile, at PEP Sangasanga Field there are Tante Siska programs, namely the Integrated Farmer Program for the Setaria Group Social Innovation System; and PEP Tanjung Field has the Perisakti program, namely the Innovative Kapar Village Fisheries Cultivation Center program; and PEP Tarakan Field which carries the Kubedistik program, notably the Tarakan Disability Batik House program.

Donny also said that, “Each flagship program has a long-term plan, a specific strategy, and the target is determined annually by involving the beneficiary communities. The success that has been achieved by the fostered partners based on the date, apart from the direct impact on the economy, which has led them to become resource persons or to be asked to provide training or share knowledge to other groups. The spirit of change and innovation that is transmitted is expected to be the foundation for delivering positive change on a larger scale.”
