Balikpapan - Pertamina Upstream Subholding, through PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Region 3 Kalimantan, is committed to maintaining the oil and gas production of the fields in Kalimantan.
The Mahakam Working Area (WK) began production in 1974, reached its peak in early 2000, and is experiencing a relatively high decline rate or natural decline.

“To maintain production levels, we are making various efforts such as borderless operations, ultra-deep Bekapai, and the development of Manpatu exploration well. The currently being developed Manpatu well is targeted to produce 80 MMSCFD by 2026,” said Chalid Said Salim, President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Region 3 Kalimantan, during a visit to Senipah, Peciko & South Mahakam (SPS) field, (04/12).

Chalid further added that in 2021, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) recorded gas production of 526 MMSCFD or 102% of the RKAP, and oil production of 24,800 BOPD or 108% of the RKAP.
“For 2022, we targeted gas production of 508 MMSCFD, oil production of 23,700 BOPD, and 97 drilled wells,” he said.

On the same occasion, the Director of Development & Production of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Wiko Migantoro said that Pertamina’s upstream sub holdings, energy producers on the upstream side, must implement value creation in terms of efficiency and optimization to help Pertamina’s business ecosystem as a whole.

“We appreciate the efforts made by all of you, Pertamina employees. After seeing it firsthand, I am optimistic that we can achieve the targets that have been set,” said Wiko.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Rinaldi Firmansyah said that Pertamina is currently dominating national oil and gas production, which means disruptions in Pertamina’s production will affect national production. And for that reason, Pertamina must strengthen its other businesses.

“Cost optimization efforts carried out by Kalimantan Region are excellent and positive. It should be continued and applied in other regions,” said Rinaldi.
