Pertamina Hulu Mahakam Adds the First Gas Production from the Second Platform of the JSN Project in Kutai Kartanegara

Balikpapan - PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) successfully conducted on-stream gas from the second platform of the Jumelai, North Sisi, North Nubi (JSN) Project, the WPS-3 platform, on Friday, June 10, 2022, at Sisi Nubi Field, Kutai Kertanegara District. After the success of onstream from the first platform, the JML1, the first gas flow from the WPS-3 platform indicates that PHM has officially increased gas production from SS-301 well of the JSN Project by 22.51 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd).

General Manager of PHM, Krisna, said that PHM's success in streaming gas from the first and second platforms of the JSN project signifies the Company's commitment to realizing its work programs that are supported by the oil and gas incentive approval received from the government.

"Since the approval of oil and gas incentives in 2021, all PHM management and workers have consistently taken various strategic steps to realize the approved work programs. In addition to increasing drilling activities, we have found new sources of oil and gas reserves from exploration and exploitation activities that can help Indonesia meet its oil and gas production targets in 2030," said Krisna.

According to Krisna, PHM also applies best engineering practices in maintaining and improving the reliability of its decades-old oil and gas production and operation facilities to ensure optimum operations. "With the incentives given, PHM investment and production continuity can be maintained, thus securing national energy supply," he added.

PHM Senior Manager of Subsurface Development & Planning, Ferico Afrinas, said gas reserves from the Plan of Development for the North Sisi North Nubi Field are estimated at 82 BSCF with 626 Mstb of condensate. "In addition to the two onstream wells, namely SS-301 & 302, PHM is currently focused on completing drilling and production of the remaining ten wells. According to the plan, additional production will come from SS-302 well, which is also on the same platform," said Ferico.

Meanwhile, PHM Senior Project Manager Setyo Sapto Edi explained that the WPS-3 platform has a production capacity design of up to 45 MMscfd, and PHM has completed the construction of the third platform. "PHM has completed the construction of the third platform, WPN-4, which has been Ready for Drilling since February 22, 2022. It is currently still in the drilling stage and is targeted to be onstream in August 2022," said Edi.

With the operation of 3 platforms planned for the JSN Project, PHM is estimated to increase its gas production by 135 MMscfd and support 20 percent of oil and gas production from the Mahakam Block by 2024.
