PT Pertamina Hulu Energi, which manages the oil and gas work field in the Kalimantan area, continues to carry out its commitment to carry out oil and gas operations that comply with the regulation and pay attention to the surrounding environment, including community empowerment as part of the Company Social & Environmental Responsibility.

PHI Communications, Relations & CID Manager Dony Indrawan conveyed the commitment during a meeting with Kalimantan media in July 2021 titled BASO IGA PHI). Aside from explaining the organizational structure and functions in the Kalimantan Region Relations, Deny also explained the each PHI subsidiary's social and environmental responsibility, including PHM in Zone 8, PHSS in Zone 9 and PHKT in Zone 10. 

“We have several feature programs in the Mahakam Work Area or Zone 8 maintained by Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, one of which is 4.0 Advanced Farmer program, which is an eco-friendly agricultural program in the Samboja and Kutai Kartanegara Districts,” Dony explained. 

The 4.0 Advanced Farmer program is aimed to utilize the abundant natural resources in the Teluk Pamedas, Sanipah, Handil Baru, West Handil Baru and Muara Sembilang Sub-districts through community mentorship in developing eco-friendly agricultural business using agriculture-based digital app “Aplikasi Tanam Digital”.

With the improved farmers', youths and women's capacity, along with infrastructure support and sustainable practice-based intervention initiated by PHM, independent or group, the company hoped that it could create independence for the group and all members of the community to improve their living standards in the future.

Furthermore, Dony said that the various Social and Environmental Responsibility program in Zone 9, such as “Bunga Kertas” Creative Literacy House (Rulika) located in the Beringin Agung Village, Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The Rulika program is a Social and Environmental Responsibility  in the education field through local reading group capacity building. 

In the community empowerment field, several featured programs include Setaria Group Integrated Agriculture Innovation System in Sarijaya Village, Sangasanga District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency; Kapar Village Fisheries Cultivation Center program in Kapar Village, Murung Pudak District, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan; and Stingless Bee Business Group development program in South Sangatta Village, Sangatta District, East Kutai Regency. 

During the same occasion, Dony also explained the CSR activities in Zone 10 by Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan (PHKT). The activities include Black Soldier Fly Cultivation (BULATIH) program in Girimukti Village, Central Tanjung Sub-district, Penajam District, North Penajam Paser Regency. The program received first place in Efficient Technology Innovation Competition Award hosted by North Penajam Paser Planning, Research and Development Agency. 

There is also Batik Disability Joint Business Group (KUBEDISTIK) in the Kampung Satu Subdistrict, Central Tarakan District, Tarakan City, North Kalimantan Province developed by Pertamina EP Tarakan Field, where it empowers people with disability to develop interests and talents to create batik using natural dye and mangrove waste. For Pertamina EP Bunyu Field CSR activity, there is also the Harapan Baru Livestock Group Chicken Farm Program in East Bunyu Village, Bulungan Regency, North Kalimantan Province. 

All of PHI's program refers to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) such as Goal 1 - No Poverty, Goal 2 - No Hunger, Goal 3 - Good Health and Well-being, Goal 4 - Quality Education,  Goal 6 - Clean Water and Sanitation, Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 8 - Decent Work and Economic Growth, Goal 14 - Life Below Water, Goal 15 - Life on Land, and Goal 17 - Partnerships for the Goals.
