Tarakan, 16 June 2021 – PT Pertamina EP Tarakan Field (PEP Tarakan), a part of PT Pertamina Hulu Inodnesia (PHI) Zone 10 Kalimantan areaUpstream Subholding, continues to contribute to community capacity building around its work area, including providing guidance and counseling for Tarakan Batik Disabilities House (KUBEDISTIK).
PEP Tarakan collaborated with Yayasan Semangat Membara Bangun Indonesia by organizing a webinar titled Menyapa Rumah Batik Disabilitas Tarakan (KUBEDISTIK) (Saying Hello to Tarakan Batik Disabilities House) with the theme “Young, Empowered, Cultured and Work for the Nation”, on Saturday, 29 May 2021. The webinar was aimed to develop strategies for KUBEDISTIK batik products promotion and marketing to expand its market to national and even the international market.
During the occasion, Kampung Satu Subdistrict Head KTM Sijabat, S.STP, M.H conveyed his gratitude to PEP Tarakan and Yayasan Semangat Membara Bangun Indonesia that organized the webinar. “I hope the webinar can grow higher spirit, so I and the Youth Community could continue to mentor KUBEDISTIK to further promote Tarakan Batik in the future,” said KTM Sijabat, S.STP, M.H.
The support successfully made KUBEDISTIK to become one of Ministry of Trade's National Export Development Directorate General's mentee to participate in the 2021 Designers Dispatch Service (DDS).
KUBEDISTIK was chosen to represent North Kalimantan to participate in the 36th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2021 in October in Jakarta. Various national corporations usually participate in the event and will be attended by prospective buyers from within the country and abroad. TEI aims to improve Indonesia's image in the international stage through various natural resources potentials, creativity and culture that are translated into various high quality, competitive and international standard products.
The event will also improve human resources' capacity, batik craftsmen certification, character building, and group management training and marketing training to help KUBEDISTIK develop its interests and talents. The group could also produce batik independently and creatively, in which the group could develop a variety of products with North Kalimantan batik motive such as: shoes, sandals, hats, shirts, masks, siger crowns and bracelets. The batik produced by the group also consist of a variety of motives, including Tidung batik motive, pumpjack, Pertamina logo, tower rig, Tujuh Pandan Duyung, Pakis-Pakisan, North Kalimantan Dayak motive, hornbill and many others.
There are 22 disabled batik craftsmen in the community, facilitated by Sony Lolong. They produced batik together through various methods that could take at least a day. The group could produce up to 50 sheets of batik cloths monthly, but could produce more should there be special orders. CSR PEP Assest 5 in Balikpapan currently conducted the marketing, as well as selling the goods online by partnering with State-owned Enterprises Ministry's Rumah Kreatif to help expand its markets aside from the webinar and its participation in TEI.
PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) Relations Senior Manager Farah Dewi said that the support for KUBEDISTIK was one of the company's social responsibility. “We hope our partnership with KUBEDISTIK could continue so we can expand its business to a wider market sustainably and independently,” Farah Dewi said.
