Pertamina EP Tanjung Field Wins Silver Award from the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia

Jakarta – Pertamina EP (PEP) Tanjung Field won a Silver Award in the CSR and Sustainable Village Development (Pembangunan Desa Berkelanjutan/PDB) Awards 2022, organized by the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia on Thursday (06/23) at JS Luwansa Hotel & Convention Center Jakarta.

In the event, PEP Tanjung Field brought home a Silver Award in the CSR category for its Innovative Village Fisheries Empowerment Center Program (Program Pusat Pemberdayaan Perikanan Desa Inovatif/PERISAKTI), which has been running since 2019. Abdul Halim Iskandar, the Minister of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration himself presented the award to Sigid Setiawan, Tanjung Field Manager.

The CSR & PDB Awards 2022 is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration and the Indonesian Social Sustainability Forum (ISSF). The awards are given to companies or individuals for their success in fostering and empowering village-owned enterprises (BUMDes). There are three award categories - Gold, Silver, and Bronze.

Sigid Setiawan said that the recognition is a manifestation of the Company's commitment to implementing innovative and sustainable community empowerment programs. "We collaborate with all stakeholders in carrying out the Company's CSR programs that create shared values. In this program, we engage the government of Kapar Village and Murung Pudak Subdistrict, regional Fisheries Agencies, and other companies to collaborate and implement the program," said Sigid.

According to Sigid, the PERISAKTI program carried out in Kapar Village, Murung Pudak Subdistrict, Tabalong District, South Kalimantan, aims to increase community capacity in fish farming by encouraging people in the village to try biofloc, a new innovation in the fish farming system. The innovation applies environmental engineering by using oxygen and microorganisms that convert organic and inorganic compounds into nutrient-rich biomass called 'floc', which can improve water quality and become natural nutrients for fish.

"Biofloc system is considered more effective and efficient in terms of cost and cultivation time. The initial capital needed for fish farming using the conventional earthen pond is Rp12,000,000, while the biofloc system is much more affordable at only Rp6,000,000. Fish cultivated in a biofloc system can be harvested three months after seeding, a month faster than in a conventional earthen pond. The harvested fish is also more savory and doesn't have that earthy smell," said Sigid.
