Jakarta - In commemoration of National Waste Care Day (HPSN), Pertamina EP (PEP) Tanjung Field carried out the River Clean Movement (GBS) activity Friday (27/2/23). The activity, entitled "Protecting the Environment, Maintaining the Flow of Life," was carried out by workers with the community and village government in Sungai Jaing, a tributary of the Tabalong River located in Masukau Village, Murung Pudak District, Tabalong Regency, South Kalimantan.

The GBS activity collected 16 kg of organic waste, 24 kg of plastic, 24 kg of cardboard, and 5 kg of other waste. Various types of inorganic waste include styrofoam, glass bottles, plastic bottles, plastic bags, and another plastic packaging. The acquisition of this waste is deposited into the Belimbing Raya Village Garbage Bank, which is PEP Tanjung Field's waste management partner. It is hoped that this activity will become a massive movement and involve more stakeholders considering that Tabalong Regency is an area passed by large and long rivers.

HSSE Superintendent PEP Tanjung Field, Supriyadi, expressed the Company's commitment to running oil and gas operations that are safe, reliable, environmentally friendly, and comply with all applicable regulations by the application of ESG principles (Environment, Social, and Governance).

According to Supriyadi, GBS is a good momentum for the Company to share knowledge with stakeholders to build awareness and concern for Officers and the public for environmental cleanliness. In addition, GBS is also a means for the Company to get closer to the community and village government.
"We realized that river is not just a stream of water, but a stream of life that we must protect together," he concluded.
