Tabalong - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Tanjung Field held an oil spill exercise in inland waters on Thursday, 7 October 2021 at the Tanjung Field Bapor PEP Water Pool. This exercise is carried out in order to control, prevent escalation, and reduce losses caused by oil spills on land and in waters. Participants in this exercise were the entire Site Emergency Response Team (SERT) and the PEP Tanjung Field Emergency Response Crisis Management (ERCM) team.
The appointed On Scene Commander, together with the HSSE team, started the exercise with a technical briefing and then carried out the agreed scenario, ended with an evaluation of the implementation of the exercise. This exercise is carried out by practicing the technique of deploying an oil boom, techniques for carrying oil spills, how to operate the oil skimmer unit, and how to recover the rest of the oil spill.
Tanjung Field Manager, Sigid Setiawan, said, "This Oil Spill Drill is an effort to train the preparedness of the Tanjung Field Site Emergency Response Team (SERT) in dealing with emergency conditions and to train crisis management at Tanjung Field. This exercise is also held to support the objectives of the Emergency Response and Crisis Management Training (ERCM), one of which is to ensure that emergency response to an oil spill can be carried out quickly and accurately to prevent an escalation.”
In addition, Sigid hopes that the implementation of simulation exercises related to oil spills and fire incidents can be carried out every month so that the team gets used to handling emergencies.
