Bunyu - Pertamina EP Bunyu Field (PEP Bunyu) as integral part of Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional Kalimantan Zona 10, in cooperation with CSR partner Waste Bank Manise, creating innovation to utilize wood dusr waste to tackle lost circulation in drilling and workover activities of the Company.
“Lost circulation is the lost of some or all fluids to formations or well hole, so it reduces the function of completion fluids to hold formation pressure. Thus, it needs special attention to tackle this challenge," explains Evan Saputro, PEP Bunyu Well Services Engineer.
Further describes, the use of wood dust as Lost Circulation Material (LCM) can increase oil and gas production since it is proven to overcome lost circulation, so there is no delay in workover dan well service activities.
Since Januari 2021, PEP Bunyu with Waste Bank Manise has been initiating the innovation by experimenting with materials needed. In cooperation with 3 Small & Medium Entreprises (SMEs) in furniture production of Bunyu Barat Village: Mebel Rafi’i, Mebel Sederhana, and Mebel Gunung Daeng. For July to September period of time, as much as 1.1 tons of wood dust has been utilized as LCM.
Senior Manager PEP Bunyu Field, Andry, explains that this innovation is an exception innovation with enormous value: overcoming operational problems, and giving economical value to waste to scale up CSR partners. This program is also aligned with the vision and mission of Waste Bank Manise, that is taking more varied of waste to utilize. This innovation is also creating shared value (CSV) between the Company and the people with economical, social, and environmental value to sustain the business. The program has also been awarded Gold in Continuous Improvement Program (CIP) Presentation Forum Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) 2021 by Saw Dust PEP Bunyu team.
