Bulungan - PT Pertamina EP Bunyu Field (PEP Bunyu Field) which is part of the Upstream Subholding Regional 3 Kalimantan Zona 10, planted 1000 trees in the PEP Bunyu Field production facility area, Wednesday (09/02). The symbolic inauguration was held with the planting of the first tree by Bunyu Field Senior Manager, Andry.
The activity carried out in the Power Plant area has the theme Revegetation of the Production Facility Area to Realize a Sustainable Bunyu Green Area. This activity was carried out, among others, aimed at reducing noise and keeping dust from the work area, and expanding the water catchment area to reduce the potential for flooding and landslides on Bunyu Island.
Andry explained that the planting activity in the production facility area is a continuation of the 2022 Bunyu Field biodiversity road map agenda, which is part of the company's concern and responsibility to maintain and preserve the environment around the location of operational activities. The initial planting plan is carried out in an area of 895 square meters, with various trees planted including longan, jackfruit, mango, bamboo, rambutan, matoa, and mahogany. The Bunyu Field HSSE team has successfully planted 400 matoa tree seedlings that will be planted in all production facilities at PEP Bunyu Field.
"In addition to focusing on oil and gas operations, PEP Bunyu Field is also very concerned about social aspects and environmental sustainability. In addition, we manage a sustainable business by applying the 3P sustainable business principles in the form of Profit, People, and Planet," explained Andry.
PEP Bunyu Field strives to apply sustainable business principles to support the implementation of the Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) aspects launched by Pertamina. This planting activity is in line with the 15th Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to protect terrestrial ecosystems.
