Tana Lia, North Kalimantan– JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Simenggaris (JOB Simenggaris), which is a joint operation between PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE) Simenggaris and PT Medco E&P Simenggaris, conducted a commissioning ceremony or inauguration of the commencement of the gas supply trial stage at the Mini LNG Refinery operated by PT Kayan LNG Nusantara in Tanjung Keramat, West Tanah Merah Village, Tana Lia District, North Kalimantan (30/04/2023).

General Manager of JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Simenggaris, Djudjuwanto, said that this inauguration was a follow-up to the signing of the Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement between JOB Simenggaris and PT Kayan LNG Nusantara on May 20, 2020.

"This moment has marked one of the important histories for the oil and gas industry in Indonesia, where the Mini LNG Refinery is the first mini LNG refinery in North Kalimantan and Indonesia," said Djudjuwanto.

According to Djujuwanto, the refinery will produce LNG from natural gas produced by JOB Simenggaris with an estimated volume of 22 million cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).

"This Mini LNG refinery will support national energy security and create a multiplier effect for the development and progress of the economy in Tana Tidung and Nunukan Regencies, North Kalimantan. In addition, this will be a pioneer for developing marginal gas fields located in remote areas in Indonesia," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Governor of North Kalimantan, Drs. H. Zainal A Paliwang, SH, M.Hum, who was accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Kaltara, Dr. Yansen TP, expressed his gratitude for the commitment and hard work of all parties involved in the completion of the construction of this mini LNG plant. 

"I hope that the surrounding community can feel the positive impact of the presence of this LNG plant, such as improvements in the economic and education sectors, and Tana Merah Village can progress and develop," said Zainal.

The President Director of PT Kayan LNG Nusantara, Anthony Lesmana, expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to all parties who have supported the smooth construction of this Mini LNG Refinery and hopes to continue to receive support and cooperation from all parties for the smooth production of Kayan LNG so that it can support the government in meeting national energy needs.
