JOB Pertamina-Medco EP Simenggaris Gives Journalists Experience as Workers in South Sembakung Field, North Kalimantan

North Kalimantan- JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Simenggaris (JOB Simenggaris) held education on the upstream oil and gas industry for media crew in North Kalimantan (Kaltara), entitled Press Tour & Media Gathering with the hashtag #jadipahamhulumigas. In this activity, the Company invited the media to spend a day experiencing work at the South Sembakung Field, situated in Nunukan Regency and Tana Tidung Regency (18/11/2023).

Fransisca Veronica, also known as Ika, the General Affairs Manager of JOB Simenggaris, mentioned that this inaugural activity at the South Sembakung Field offered the media crew a unique opportunity to gain new experiences and insights into upstream oil and gas operations. Journalists also received information about crew change activities up to the production process at the South Sembakung Field.

"Besides fostering understanding among the media crew, this activity aims to enhance relationships and communication between companies and the mass media. This has consistently supported JOB Simenggaris in conveying accurate messages and information about the Company and the upstream oil and gas industry to the public," said Ika.

During this activity, journalists visit the living quarter area (office and worker camp during on-duty), gas wells, and gas plant areas using mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE) accompanied by Production Operations Supervisor and HSSE Officer JOB Simenggaris.

Cahyo Nugroho, the field manager of JOB Simenggaris, added that the role of the media is to support the smooth operation of JOB Simenggaris to date. "Collaboration between companies and the media in providing accurate and positive information can increase understanding of stakeholders and the public to provide support for the Company," he explained.

Cahyo added that activities like this need to be continued as a forum for media education regarding the upstream oil and gas industry and to understand the benefits of JOB Simenggari's presence in the North Kalimantan region.

In the question and answer session, Cahyo also highlighted the improving prospects for the gas industry in North Kalimantan. One notable development was the gas export in the form of LNG by one of the buyers on November 7. Cahyo emphasized, 'The more investment, including exporters, the stronger this industry will become. Naturally, the regions will also experience the impact.' He further remarked, 'Our current field production is quite promising.

The activity received a positive response from print, television, and online media journalists who participated. 'It's wonderful to meet again and offer our media friends a deeper understanding of upstream oil and gas. Hopefully, this synergy can yield positive benefits, and the communication between the Company and the media will continue to thrive,' concluded Ika.
