Samboja - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Sangasanga Field collaborated with Balikpapan University to hold training and inauguration of jeruju tea leaf products typical of Kampung Lama Village, Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The Kampung Lama jeruju tea leaf product was launched jointly by the Samboja District Government and PEP Sangasanga Field Management (18/2/23).
This activity is part of the Black River Proboscis Tourism CSR Program, assisted by PEP Sangasanga Field. Present at the inauguration of the Kampung Lama Village Government Ranks, Kampung Lama PKK Mothers, Black River Lestari Pokdarwis, and Sungai Hitam Lestari MSME Group as partner groups fostered by the PEP Sangasanga Field CSR program. Meanwhile, the training activities were attended by groups of enabled partners and also members of the PKK.
Jeruju (Acanthus ilicifolius) thrives on the banks of the Black River. Jeruju is also known as the holy mangrove, a shrub-shaped mangrove species that grows wild in coastal areas, river banks, and muddy and brackish water areas. Its leaves, seeds, and roots contain saponins, flavonoids, and polyphenols, which can relieve stomach pain and become anthelmintic. The content of flavonoids and phenols in the leaves and roots of jerujud also serves as an antiviral and antihypertensive and has a medicinal effect against liver disorders.
Manager Communication Relations &; CID Regional 3, Dony Indrawan, explained the Company's commitment to continue to run a sustainable Community Development Program in the Company's upstream oil and gas operation area.
"Together with the Sungai Hitam Lestari (SHL) MSME Group, PEP Sangasanga Field utilizes jeruju leaves by drying and producing them into tea. The utilization of jeruju leaves is expected to increase the utilization of local economic potential while encouraging the Black River Ekoriparian Tourism," explained Dony.
Dony added that the Company continues to be committed to carrying out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs that support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
