Integrated Farming Through the Gerbang Insan Mapan PHKT Program Supports Food Independence in Sebakung Jaya Village

Penajam Paser Utara - PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) Southern Operating Area (DOBS) continues to support the achievement of food independence by developing rice mina, integrated farming through the Gerbang Insan Mapan (Movement for the Development of Fisheries and Agriculture Integration Towards Food Independence) program in Sebakung Jaya Village, Penajam Paser Utara. This program has been started as a CSR program since 2020.

Several technological innovations are applied to support the community's food independence, including roaster Maggot is a modification of the roaster machine with insulation and automation technology for energy efficiency, micro Bubble Technology is a generator that supports the freshwater fish farming process to increase oxygen levels in the pond.

Mina Padi, in the form of land optimization, to increase income through fish and rice farming.

Fish Pellets, namely making pellets from harvested rice bran/bran mixed with maggot flour and corn flour.

The head of Pokdakan Biawang, Bintang, recounted the conditions before PHKT introduced the Gerbang Insan Mapan program, farmers were underdeveloped and less productive because the land in Sebakung Jaya Village was vast but did not have irrigation canals and the soil conditions were not good, infertile, and the price of fertilizer and fish food was very high.

"PHKT has opened minds and insights, with the same vision and goals, and provided various training, including the manufacture of pesticides, organic fertilizers, and the manufacture of fish feed from maggots. We are also introduced to the Micro Bubble Generator (MBG), which can affect the growth of fish 2 times faster, and their productivity increases," said Bintang.

One of the programs supporting innovation is no. 4 (Fish Pellets), namely the BULATIH (Black Fly Cultivation) program, which utilizes organic waste to be used as maggot-feeding material. Larvae have a high protein content, so they are good to give as animal feed and fish.

The use of maggots is used as a material for making pellets by drying maggots using an automatic roaster given a modified PHKT with an insulation system that reduces heat release in heating devices. Given the high price of fish pellets, the replication of the program can relieve fishermen by saving 30% on fish protein feed costs.

The General Manager of Zona 10 Regional 3 Kalimantan, Djudjuwanto, explained that the tremendous agricultural potential in Sebakung Jaya Village had initiated the Insan Mapan Program by optimizing rainfed rice mina.

"We are committed to continuing to nurture farmers in Sebakung Jaya Village to improve the quality and quantity of rice and fish crops, towards an independent and prosperous community," added Djudjuwanto.

According to Djudjuwanto, this program is one of the alternative solutions for PPU Regency, which is a candidate for the national capital or IKN, in facing economic, social, and environmental challenges.

"Therefore, in this program, PHKT collaborates with stakeholders, such as the Environmental Agency, SKK Migas Kalsul, and beneficiaries so that this program can create benefits and values that are enjoyed together (creating shared value)," added Djudjuwanto.

Meanwhile, the Head of the PPU Marine and Fisheries Service, Andi Trasodiharto, revealed that the Aquaculture Village is one of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries programs based on the Regulation of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Number 47 of 2021.

"PHKT and residents have collaborated in initiating the Mayan Insan Gate program, to optimize rainfed Mina Padi. Sebakung Jaya Village has the potential to be used as a pilot for the Aquaculture Village which is expected to have a direct impact on the community so that we can synergize in empowering the community towards food security and independence," added Andi.

This year PHKT also had the opportunity to become a candidate for the Golden Environmental Management Company Performance Rating (PROPER) from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) RI. Gold Proper is the highest award, meaning that the company has managed the environment beyond what is required.
