Balikpapan - Deputy Head of Central SKK Migas (Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities), Fatar Yani Abdurrahman, went on an official visit to PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM) on 8–11 September 2021 to review the company’s operational activities and its integrated shore base system’s readiness to support oil drilling activities in Mahakam Work Area. In the four-day visit, Fatar was accompanied by the Head of SKK Migas for Kalimantan-Sulawesi Office, Azhari Idris and other members of SKK Migas management.
On the first day of the visit, SKK Migas delegation listened to a brief presentation on PHM activities from the General Manager of PHM, Agus Amperianto, in Handil Room at Balikpapan Base Office. “ PHM’s production achievement in the first semester of the 2021 is still above the targeted Work Plan & Budget (WP&B), even though we were working in the midst of the pandemic,” said Agus.
Deputy Head of SKK Migas, Fatar Yani, expressed his hope that PHM can continue to increase production through various innovations and by minimizing unplanned shutdowns, as well as keep carrying out exploration to find new hydrocarbon reserves in East Kalimantan/Kutai Basin area.
Fatar Yani also expressed his appreciation for PHM’s efforts in continuing the use of domestic/national products in PHM operations. “We congratulate two PHM Officers, Ardian Fandika and Irawan Josodipuro, who received the 2021 Satyalancana Wira Karya Award from the President of the Republic of Indonesia for their achievements in fostering local industries within their respective fields of expertise to support upstream oil and gas industry,” he said.
On the following days, SKK Migas team visited the sites of the integrated shore base and listened to brief presentations from a number of teams involved in operational activities in each site as well as presentations on local service empowerment in Kutai Kartanegara. Deputy Head of SKK Migas expects that the operations in shore base sites always prioritize work health and safety and protect people from any environmental risks as guided by the work health and safety and environmental protection policies.
On the last day of the visit, Fatar and the others took the time to see a Covid-19 vaccination for PHM Officers at Handil Field (HCA). 600 officers from HCA Field work area were given their second dose of Covid-19 vaccine through the Covid-19 Gotong Royong program.
On the same occasion, SKK Migas team also reviewed the readiness of PHM’s oil spill response facilities and team in dealing with oil spills. One of their programs was to hold a training in handling oil spill in Bekapai waters on June 12, 2021.
Fatar asked PHM to continue prioritizing work safety. “With its technical equipment and personnel capabilities, PHM is expected to be able to handle the problem of oil spill in the waters” said Fatar Yani Abdurrahman before PHM’s Oil Spill Response Team . On this visit, PHM outlined its efforts to increase security for crude oil transfer from storage tanks to tankers. ”PHM can ensure that all Oil Spill Response teams have been certified by IMO (International Maritime Organization),” said Agus Amperianto. IMO is one of the agencies of the United Nations that is responsible for the safety and security of shipping activities and the prevention of environmental pollution at sea.
Fatar Yani also gave the 10-Year Without Lost Time Injury Award to Bekapai Field, one of the fields in Mahakam WK. Bekapai Field managed to maintain 10 years without LTI, equivalent to 8,221,414 work hours, on August 27, 2021.
Between the visits, the SKK Migas team also went to look at one of PHM’s CSR partners “Nipah Urang Handil” at Handil, Muara Jawa Sub-district. Fatar Yani talked with one of the women who are fostered by PHM’s CSR. He said that with PHM’s support, the communities in the vicinity of PHM work areas will have the opportunity to develop their abilities and other skills to make various handicraft products including in processed food industry. PHM will help so that the marketing of those products can reach outside East Kalimantan region.
