Jakarta – One of the CSR program partners of PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT), namely the Koperasi Kriya Inovasi Mandara (KIM), successfully clinched an award as the MSME with the most product variants at the Forum Kapasitas Nasional (Kapnas) III organized by SKK Migas on November 24, 2023. This cooperative has produced numerous product variants under the Pemanfaatan Ulang Sabut Kelapa program (PUSAKA).
This year's Kapnas III Forum brought together stakeholders of the national upstream oil and gas industry, attended by 34 Kontraktor Kontrak Kerja (KKKS), 70 domestic companies, 17 associations, and associations, as well as 35 of the best Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from all over upstream oil and gas working area. There were also 30 food stalls/Nusantara culinary booths present.
Avep Disasmita, General Manager of Zona 10, explained that the Koperasi Kriya Inovasi Mandara (KIM) is a CSR program partner of PHKT that had the opportunity to participate in the Kapnas III Forum by showcasing various processed products from coconut husks, including organic fertilizer from cocopeat, potting media for orchids, cocopeat, cocofiber, cocomesh, cocoblock, coco mattresses, hat crafts, shoe crafts, keychains, stationery holders, tissue holders, and bedside lamps.
"In the PUSAKA Program, companies and cooperatives see the potential for developing coconut husks as a solution to the abundant coconut waste, transforming it into high-value products such as organic fertilizer and crafts in the coastal area of Tanjung Jumlai, Saloloang Village, Penajam Sub-district, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, East Kalimantan," he stated.
According to Avep, the Company implements various social and environmental innovations in its CSR programs, including the PUSAKA program, thereby providing a significant and sustainable impact on society.
Chairman of the KIM Cooperative, Rusni Pebriyanti, expressed his appreciation to the Company for supporting and accompanying the KIM Heritage and Cooperative Program. "Now we have new knowledge to learn to make handicraft products from coconut fiber, where previously our knowledge and skills were limited," he said.
Meanwhile, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia's Communication Relations & CID Manager, Dony Indrawan, explained the commitment to carrying out upstream oil and gas operations that are environmentally friendly and comply with all environmental regulations and legislation.
"The processing of coconut husks in Saloloang Village as a form of social and environmental innovation in the PUSAKA Program can reduce environmental impacts such as emission reduction and waste. Earlier, these coconuts fell, deteriorated, and burned," clarified Dony.
Dony added that the Company is always committed to carrying out CSR programs that support community development and independence in line with achieving sustainable development goals or SDGs, where this program supports goal 1, namely no poverty, goal 5 regarding gender equality, and goal 9 regarding industry, innovation, and infrastructure, and goal 13 on addressing climate change.
