Sangasanga – Pertamina Subholding Upstream Regional 3 Kalimantan Zona 9 officers deliver aid to residents affected by the flood disaster in mid-April 2022 in the Sangasanga field and Sangatta field operating areas. The assistance provided was in the form of tarpaulin tents, carpets, cooking utensils, necessities, and volunteer vests.
Donations from employees of the Zona 9 office in Patraland Balikpapan, were handed over to two chapters. The first handover was in Margomulyo Village Office in Samboja Sub-District, Kutai Kartanegara (04/08), located where PEP Sangasanga Field operational area is. The second handover took place in three villages located within PEP Sangatta operational area, namely Sangatta Selatan, Pinang Raya, and Sangkima.
Communal Kitchen facilities were available to anticipate the possibility of another flooding. If water, unfortunately, cuts off transportation networks, families will not run out of food. Margomulyo Village Head Amir Lufni expressed his gratitude to employees of Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Zona 9 for their quick response in dealing with catastrophic events in Margomulyo.
"Honestly, we did not expect the assistance because we did not want any disaster to occur in Margomulyo. But we are grateful to Pertamina employees for the care, in organizing donations and relieving the burden for the community of margomulyo if one day another flood or other emergency event may occur," said Amir.
Meanwhile, the second-stage handover was at the same time as the Management Walk-Through (MWT) in Sangatta Field. Interim GM of Zona 9 Andre Wijanarko and other management members of Zona 9 handed the assistance in person along with 20 million IDR company donations for orphaned children and the needy. Andre shared his hope that the donations from employees and the company could offer some comfort to families affected by the flood as the pandemic is ongoing. “Hopefully, this shows Pertamina’s care, and can strengthen the bond between the company and local communities around the operational areas,” he added.
Health protocols were implemented during the handover. The Head of South Sangatta Sub-District, who was also present during the event, extended his highest appreciation to Pertamina for the aid and donation.
Pertamina and its employees are committed to carrying out safe and environmentally friendly oil and gas operations, and supporting local communities, especially during a difficult time such as when a disaster strikes, as part of the Environment, Social, and Governance principles implementation.
