Jakarta  - The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) of the Republic of Indonesia has designated eight oil and gas fields managed by PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) and its subsidiaries and affiliates as gold candidates in the Company Performance Rating Assessment Program in Environmental Management (PROPER) for the 2022-2023 period. 

Manager of Communication Relations & CID PHI Dony Indrawan said that the determination of this gold candidate is proof of the government's recognition that the environmental performance carried out in the Company's upstream oil and gas operations in the Kalimantan region has met the assessment criteria beyond compliance.

"Apart from being assessed as being compliant in fulfilling environmental regulations, the Company is also having added value to the maintenance of natural resources, energy conservation, emission reduction, and community development," said Dony.

According to him, PHI and its subsidiaries and affiliates always carry out innovative corporate social responsibility or CSR activities. Various Corporate CSR programs and innovations have been carried out based on the results of social mapping by formulating potentials and problems from the local area.

"We apply social and environmental innovation in the Company's CSR programs so that it has a significant and sustainable impact on society. Therefore, our CSR programs cause positive changes that can be felt and enjoyed by fostered partners and the wider community," said Dony.

The eight fields that became gold PROPER candidates were  Pertamina EP (PEP) Tanjung Field with the Kelompok usaha Acil Desa Jirak (Kuas Jirak) program, PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) with the Jaga Pesisir program, PEP Sangasanga Field with the Ekoparian Sungai Hitam program, PT Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan (PHKT) Daerah Operasi Bagian Utara (DOBU) with the Kapak Prabu program, PHKT Daerah Operasi Bagian Selatan (DOBS)  with the Semur Cendawan program, PEP Sangatta Field with the Kebun Kelulut Sangatta program, PEP Tarakan Field with the Akar Basah program, PEP Bunyu Field with the Kampung Hijau Hidroponik program, and PEP Sangatta Field Semberah Area with the Petani Madu Sari Alam Semberah program. 

Dony hopes that the eight fields will successfully achieve the Gold PROPER rating and emphasizes the Company's belief that the sustainability of its business relies on economic growth, community independence, and environmental sustainability. "Therefore, we run superior CSR programs in the fields of economy, education, health, and environment, as well as disaster management to support community development in line with efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)," he concluded.
