Penajam - In efforts to enhance the safety and security of Restricted Areas (DTT) operations and facilities in the oil and gas upstream sector, which are classified as national vital objects (obviates), PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) South Operational Area (DOBS) conducted a socialization event for stakeholders at the UPTD Graha Pemuda Hall, Penajam District, Penajam Paser Utara (PPU), on July 4, 2024.
The socialization event was attended by representatives from, among others, SKK Migas Kalimantan & Sulawesi Representative (SKK Migas Kalsul), Directorate of Vital Object Security (Ditpamobvit) East Kalimantan Regional Police, Indonesian Navy, Class 1 Balikpapan Harbor Master and Port Authority Office, PPU Fisheries Office, PPU Environmental Office, PPU Forkopimda, Indonesian Fishermen Association (HNSI) PPU Region, and other fishermen groups around PPU.
Head of Communication Relations & CID Zona 10 Dharma Saputra expressed that the socialization aims to foster a mutual care attitude among stakeholders in safeguarding assets of oil and gas upstream operations categorized as national vital objects (obviates). Dharma also appreciated everyone's cooperation in this ongoing effort.
"We continually support increasing public awareness of safety as part of building a safe environment. We believe that everyone plays a crucial role in fostering a safety culture to achieve zero accidents," he stated.
Dharma added that this socialization activity is crucial in implementing strategic steps to ensure safety and security in DTT oil and gas upstream operations. Excellent safety performance and a safe environment can support the sustainability of the Company's operations and business in meeting national energy needs.
Meanwhile, SKK Migas Kalsul representative Nindya Puspaningtyas emphasized that security and safety are crucial aspects of the upstream oil and gas industry. "A secure condition can create a conducive climate for the smooth operation of the oil and gas upstream industry, thus supporting national energy resilience and availability," she said. A safe condition, Nindya continued, enables the oil and gas upstream industry to continuously provide multiple regional benefits, such as environmental conservation, development, health programs, human resource enhancement/community empowerment, and more.
Participants also listened to a presentation from the Subdirector of Specific Areas (Waster) at Ditpamobvit, AKBP Fauzi Ahmad, regarding the Security Management System (SMP) as a legal aspect in securing Obvitnas and Obster. The implementation of SMP, aligned with Regulation No. 24 of the Chief of Police in 2007, aims to enable companies to anticipate, detect, and confront various Threats, Disruptions, and Challenges (AGHT).
In this event, the Head of Guarding, Patrol, and Investigation Section at Class 1 Balikpapan Harbor Master and Port Authority Office (KSOP), I Komang Budiawan, added that this socialization is one of PHKT's ways to ensure the safety and security of operational areas while protecting the environment and communities.
