Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s energy availability and security by delivering positive performance that exceeded its targets in the first half of 2026. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, PHI recorded oil production of 59.3 thousand barrels per day and gas production of 621 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), equivalent to 116.1 percent and 105.4 percent of the respective targets set in the company’s 2026 Work Plan and Budget (RKAP). These achievements were accompanied by strong safety performance, with PHI recording 73.1 million safe working hours, zero Number of Accidents (NoA), and a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 0.03.
PHI’s performance in the first half of 2026 was presented during the President Director’s Town Hall Meeting (THM), held in a hybrid format and attended by approximately two thousand employees from the company’s operational areas in Jakarta and Kalimantan on Thursday, July 30, 2026. PHI’s newly appointed President Director, Muharram Jaya Pangurinseng, delivered the performance presentation.
The Town Hall Meeting began with remarks and strategic direction from President Commissioner Meidawati, who emphasized the importance of sustaining oil and gas production performance through the implementation of a selective investment strategy. “Our initiatives prioritize techno-economic analyses grounded in occupational safety, or HSSE, and risk management,” she stated. Techno-economic analysis is an evaluation method used to assess the feasibility, costs, and benefits of a technology or industrial process by combining technical and financial considerations. On the occasion, Meidawati also introduced PHI’s new leadership team, comprising Muharram Jaya Pangurinseng as President Director, Nana Surdjana as Commissioner, and A.H. Bimo Suryono as Independent Commissioner. She also expressed her appreciation to former President Director Sunaryanto for his dedication and leadership during his tenure from February 20, 2024, to July 7, 2026.
The Town Hall marked Muharram’s first opportunity to greet and engage directly with PHI employees following his official appointment on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. He expressed his appreciation to all employees for their commitment and contributions to the company’s positive performance in the first half of 2026. “Let us maintain our enthusiasm as we face the second half of 2026 and continue sustaining the company’s oil and gas production in support of national energy security, in line with the Indonesian Government’s Asta Cita,” he said.
Muharram also encouraged all employees to continue innovating to optimize recovery rates from the mature oil and gas fields across Regional 3 Kalimantan. “We must embrace out-of-the-box thinking. We cannot expect different results if we continue using the same methods in the same locations. Through our hard work and prayers to Allah SWT, may our endeavors be facilitated as we address the challenges of the second half of 2026,” he stated.
Alongside efforts to maintain positive production performance, Muharram emphasized that occupational safety remains the primary foundation for safe, reliable, compliant, and sustainable oil and gas operations. He urged all employees to consistently prioritize Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) aspects and ensure that no work begins without a prior risk assessment. “Take preventive action as part of our efforts to avoid operational activities that could potentially cause harm. No operational priority is so important that it justifies compromising HSSE,” he stressed.
Throughout the first half of 2026, PHI achieved several important milestones across the company’s major projects. These included PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam’s (PHM) successful completion of the Manpatu Project topside installation in late May 2026 and the successful start-up of the fourth platform under the Sisi Nubi Area of Interest (AOI) Project in June 2026.
Other achievements included the successful drilling of the NKL-1183 development well by PEP Sangasanga Field and the implementation of the Through Tubing Electric Submersible Pump (TTESP) innovation by PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS) in early February 2026, which increased well production by up to 150 percent. Meanwhile, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT) also recorded positive results from two wells in the Sejadi Field.
