Supporting Quality Public Communications, PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia Group Wins Three Media Relations Award 2026 Honors

Jakarta – PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) and its subsidiaries have once again recorded notable achievements at the Media Relations Award (MRA) 2026, organized by Serikat Perusahaan Pers (SPS), the Indonesian Press Companies Union. PHI Group secured three awards at the prestigious annual event held in Jakarta on July 31, 2026. PHI received the Gold Winner award for the Best Program Media Relations category. PHI’s subsidiary, PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT), received Gold Winner in the Best Press Gathering category, while another PHI subsidiary, PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam (PHM), earned Bronze Winner in the Best Press Release category.

MRA 2026 was attended by 52 corporations, institutions, and universities, with 186 entries submitted. This year marked the fifth edition of the event, carrying the theme ‘Dignified Pers, Sovereign Information: Building Credible and Integrity-Based Media Relations.’ The award aims to recognize stakeholders, including companies, that have successfully established quality, transparent, and responsible public communication practices. Through MRA, SPS seeks to strengthen media professionalism while encouraging institutions and corporations to build more open, transparent, and integrity-based relationships with the media.

In his remarks, SPS Chairman Januar P Suswita said that amid the rapid flow and imbalance of information across today’s print, electronic, and digital media ecosystem, the greatest challenge is no longer merely the speed of information dissemination, but maintaining quality, credibility, and public trust. “A dignified press is the foundation for sovereign information. Amid the flood of information and technological disruption, a healthy relationship between the media and various stakeholders is essential to ensure that the public receives accurate, balanced, and trustworthy information,” said Januar.

Vice Chair of the Press Council, Totok Suryanto, echoed this view, emphasizing that the “crown” of the press lies in trust and professionalism. “The MRA serves as a platform to foster professional relationships between the media and companies, creating collaboration in delivering newsworthy information,” he said.

In line with this, Manager Communication Relations & CID PHI Dony Indrawan expressed his appreciation for the three awards presented to PHI Group at this year’s MRA. According to him, the awards recognize PHI Group’s commitment to delivering quality public communications and building professional, open, and trust-based relationships with the media. “These awards motivate us to continue strengthening collaboration with the media through transparent, accurate, and balanced communication. We believe that maintaining a strong relationship with the media is an important part of delivering credible information that can provide added value to communities and stakeholders,” said Dony.

Dony added that, for PHI, the mass media serves not merely as a communication channel, but as a strategic partner in corporate communications, enabling the Company to disseminate accurate and extensive information about the upstream oil and gas industry, which is complex, highly technical, and plays a vital role in supporting national energy security.

According to him, strong collaboration with the media is key to presenting information in a balanced, easy-to-understand way, enabling the public to gain a comprehensive understanding of the upstream oil and gas industry’s contribution to Indonesia’s development and energy future. “On the other hand, the media also plays an important role in communicating the Company’s contributions to society. These include various CSR programs focusing on economic empowerment, education, healthcare, environmental preservation, as well as various social initiatives that support sustainable development and national energy security,” he concluded.

PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia (PHI) is part of Subholding Upstream Pertamina, which manages upstream oil and gas operations and businesses in Regional 3 Kalimantan, comprising Zona 8, Zona 9, and Zona 10, in accordance with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
