Supporting the Government's Policy to Prevent Stunting, PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga Holds Outreach and Distributes Supplementary and Nutritious Food

Kutai Kartanegara – PT Pertamina Hulu Sanga Sanga (PHSS), in collaboration with the Sungai Meriam Community Health Center and the Anggana District Government, held a Stunting Prevention Socialization event at the Kutai Lama Village Public Meeting Hall, Kutai Kartanegara, on July 30, 2025. This event also concluded the Company's CSR program series in Anggana District for 2024, which focused on improving the quality of life and public health.

With the theme "Effective Parenting to Prevent Stunting," the socialization was attended by sub-district and village government officials, health workers, and representatives from three integrated health posts (Posyandu): Nuri, Rambutan, and Kakatua. Additionally, 111 beneficiaries participated in this activity, reflecting the community's strong interest and awareness of the importance of the family's role in preventing stunting from an early age. PHSS provided support in the form of local Supplementary Feeding (Pemberian Makanan Tambahan/PMT) and Nutritious Food (Pemberian Makanan Bergizi/PMB) programs for 111 toddlers in Kutai Lama Village.

The PMT and PMB programs prioritize the concept of Diverse, Balanced, and Safe Nutrition (B2SA). This program ran from May 5 to June 29, 2025, targeting three categories of toddlers with nutritional problems: 33 children with malnutrition, seven children with underweight, and 71 children with poor weight gain.

PMT distribution was carried out by integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres with intensive monitoring by health workers. Evaluation results from the Sungai Meriam Community Health Center (Puskesmas) showed a significant impact, including 81.8 percent of toddlers in the underweight category gaining weight, 85.7 percent of toddlers in the underweight category showing weight, and 90.1 percent of toddlers in the non-weight gain category showing weight improvement.

PHSS Field Manager Widhiarto Imam Subarkah emphasized the Company's commitment to continuing its Corporate Social Responsibility through community engagement and empowerment programs around the Company's operational areas, in line with the application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the Company's upstream oil and gas operations. "This outreach activity demonstrates our concern for the future of the younger generation and our support for government policies on stunting prevention," he explained.

Imam believes the success of the Company's CID programs is the result of collaboration between the Company and all stakeholders, especially the community, local government, and implementing partners. Therefore, PHSS is collaborating with community health centers (Puskesmas), local government, and integrated health post (Posyandu) cadres on the stunting prevention program in this area. "This program is expected to provide sustainable benefits to the community in the Company's Ring I area and support the birth of a healthy and superior generation in Anggana District," he added.

To conclude the event, a Stunting Prevention Outreach session was delivered by Dr. Bangkit Putrawan, Sp.A., M.Ked.Klin., who emphasized the importance of stunting prevention from early pregnancy through the first 1,000 days of a child's life. The material presented included maintaining the physical and mental health of pregnant women, exclusive breastfeeding for six months, the importance of nutritionally balanced complementary foods, complete immunizations, and limiting the use of formula milk unless recommended by a doctor. Drg. Isyana Duli, a representative from the Sungai Meriam Community Health Center and member of the Stunting Task Force, expressed her appreciation for this initiative. "This activity provides significant benefits for parents through education on appropriate parenting patterns to prevent stunting, thereby supporting the birth of a healthy and superior generation. I hope there will be continued support from all parties so that activities like this can continue," she said.

Tarisah, a participant in the socialization, expressed similar gratitude for the Company's contribution. "Thank you very much to PHSS for assisting our children. I hope this activity will be beneficial," she added.

Based on the 2024 Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey conducted by the Ministry of Health, the prevalence of stunting in Kukar in 2024 was recorded at 14.3%, lower than the 18.13% in 2023. In line with Presidential Regulation Number 72 of 2021 concerning the Acceleration of Stunting Reduction, the Anggana District Government has established a Stunting Task Force.
